It looks cool, and for casual club racing, say non-points events, what does it really matter. The good wheel still wins despite shell choice.

It matters because it is outside the rules for the class and if you start bending them here and there vta will become just another touring car class. Once you start there is no end. Why not allow 8000mah batteries? Why not boosted escs? Why not allow all 25.5 motor? Hell this guy has a 21.5 lets let him run its just club level racing. If you start bending and flexing the rules of the class you end up with weekend basher sessions instead of organized racing.

Many of the racers at our home track make sure they are always within the rules. Some weigh their car after every change just to be sure they make weight for the night. This is supposed to be close competition controlled and organized racing not anything goes night.

It was pointed out that the body is full usgt legal. Let it run in that class.

Well... Dagnabbit!!! HPI made the wrong stinkin' model year for the Pontiac Firebird. There goes my hope to drive a Pontiac Trans Am in the Vintage Trans Am race class.

I can still put my old Nikko '72 Trans Am body on my VTA, but it weighs 5 times as much as a PolyCarb body.

In fact the only reason Chevrolet built the 302 you referred to was so they could run it in trans am.
Exactly The first Chevrolet 302s were 327 blocks with 283 cranks and were specifically built for SCCA Sedan A & B racing (Trans-Am racing) and were built because the class required a production engine. Ford did something with their 302 (stroked the 289 from 2.87 to 3.00). These engines were specifically produced to homologize them because SCCA Trans-Am racing required production engines. Custom 305s were built for Dodge/Plymouth when they entered the fray in 1970 (when the rules for production engines were changed to allow non-stock displacements). I agree about the Batmobile Trans-Am body not being legal. I was addressing JCarr who said Trans-Ams never raced in the Trans-Am series.

Hey guys, hope you don't mind, but I wanna try something new in regards to judging our recent USVTA concourse....I would like the regulars of this thread to vote on the following three finalists, to determine the winner....

I am looking for judges OUTSIDE of our area (NJ, NY, Pa, De) who won't know any of the finalists....

This will run until this Friday (Feb 10th ) at noon est.

All you have to do is pick the VTA you like for whatever reason...Battle scars could be a plus in your decision... This is just for fun....

Just pick ONE and I will add up the results on Friday....Vote by car number....Thanks!

If there any owners of these cars on here, no bribes please....

Ray, I think the voters also need to have over 50 posts on RCTECH so we know it is fair, and they are not making up accounts to get votes.

Seen it happen before and didn't think it was fair.

The Javelin gets a +1 from me. The only one I can see the driver in the car and I am partial to Javelins, also the most authentic looking paint job although the 70 Mustang is a close second.
