Tekin RS ESC sensored
#2056
Foodie, if led's 1,2 and 6,7 are lit it showing wrong motor type selected.
For 13.5 in 2wd here's my setup in my XXX CR:
NW 10
BS 80
TP 3
Motor timing at 20
Boost at 10
Geared 78/26-27 depending on layout.
The Tekin RS is easliy one of the most adjustable esc's out today. I know it can be overwhelming at times but anyone looking for setup help can email me for assistance: [email protected]

I never ran a 17.5 until this past weekend so I have nothing to compare it with.

Boost
Can someone explain what boost is and what it does for the gearing setup. Thanks

I'm assuming here that you use a sensored motor.
Pre 189 software works in Hybrid mode. In those mode you start in sensored mode. Here you will use the physical timing advance in the motor if any. At one point in time the esc will switch to sensorless mode and it will apply the timing advance configured in the esc by the hotwire. If you switch to sensored only mode... the timing advance configured will be ignored and only the physical timing advance in the motor will be used.
in 189 software, you still have the ability to use hybrid mode as per above. but when you switch to sensored only you have the option to add boost which is timing advance that works when in you are in sensored mode... this works over and above the physical timing advance that you have in the motor.

Gortan is pretty much correct.
In Dual mode, we use the sensors to start. Once we are rolling we're using sensorless operation with the Timing the user has set in the esc.
In Sensored only mode we use the sensors entirely. This is where the motor timing and timing boost when added together give you your timing.

The only real benefit of boost is for 10.5, 13.5 and 17.5 motors. Dual mode has rather soft brakes, but if they are enough for you then there go for it as it is a touch more efficient. I have my B4 w/17.5 on software 1.89 and B44 on 1.80 in dual mode because it has a smoother power band for my loose track.

With the proper use of boost and gearing you can get a motor that is very fast on the strait and very fast in the infield. It took me around 10 runs to get my Duo 13.5 to where I want it. Once I found the sweet spot with the boost I was getting .2 better lap times vs 1.80 and endbell timing.
Oddly enough, another 1.89 + Duo user at the track came to the same numbers as me for his motor. Think we should have shared data, would have been quicker.

Ok i am thinking about getting this esc for my 1/12 scale. Other then the motor limits what is the difference between the pro and the standard rs. I am only running stock. Will i be loosing anything?
i like the pro but i think that the standard rs being lower mybe better.
