where you been, I know more people with brushless on the club level then brushed. the local track has been running 90% brushless for 1 1/2 years. we have 10.5 for truck and buggy offroad and 13.5 tc and 17.5 12th scale. you would be hard pressed to find any brushed accept in the TA class and then that's half brushless already locally. you can pick up a novak xbr 13.5 for 170 at tower or the speed control for 130 and a 17.5 for 80 or the lrp eraser 13.5 system for 150 but you got to remember so you break the bank for 500 it's the only money you got to buy no more brushes no more lathe. and more time working on the car and not the motor at the race. trust me I ran my 12th at the both roar nats and never took the motor out of my 12th scale. it was nice. but trueing the arm on my TC was a pain. I can't wait, I won't know what to do with my time.... maybe take more pictures for www.rc50.com !

Yeah, the guys that are going to be pissed are the same guys that baught 3 stock and 3 19 turn motors last year... Handouts are so cheap...

I actually like the fact that you'll be able to run the same motor that you club race with and not have to worry about a handout that's a total turd. No handout means that you'll be able to run your first practice without having to scramble to build a handout motor or run a motor that you can't race with. Plus no complaints about the handouts being "slow".

All we have to do now is convince the diehard brushed guys that it's ok to leave the motor alone and work on the car a little.

I am pissed too. I haven't switched yet... But look at it this way... No motor rebuilds and your going to eventually!

For the 12th guys it might not cost $250 or $300 to go brushless. Rumor is you can run a Novak Mongoose 1/18th speedo with a 17.5 in 12th. I haven't tried it yet but I'll bet that it works. Saves a bunch of weight compared to the Novak 4 cell too.

A Mongoose and a 17.5 will only set ya back about $175 at a hobby shop.

guys! guys! im completely on board with brushless and am in the process of picking up 2 systems for 1/12 and touring. i was just saying that some people race on a budget and not having the choice to run what they have may prevent them from participating in cleveland and they might be a little ticked. believe me im all about not cutting motors or trying to tune those handouts soon the entire rc community will run brushless but there are still diehards out there that arent ready or just dont like it. anyway it is what it is. oh nashrcracer just keep takin those pics. you do a hell of a job as i enjoy them regularly

I better run 13.5 , I dont want to show up the mod guys ! But I've heard some of those guys are pretty good like Josh , Blackstock and Chester I've heard they put on a good show every year !

Hey Robert old buddy old pal......
Sounds like you have way too many, and it's probably weighing down your pit box making it difficult to carry.
Maybe you should send a couple of them my way!!

Guys were running the 1/18th Tekin speeder in 1/12th Stock brushed last year with no problems. I'm sure it will happen for brushless too.

While I do know that some 1/12 guys were running the Tekin 1/18 BL speedo... with the release of the RS, many of them have already switched. The main advantage of the 1/18th speedo was is small size - however, now that the RS is actually here and it's size is probably one of the smallest footprints of all BL speed controls, the added performance gains and added flexibility of being able to run lower wind motors makes the investment into a RS way more sense.

Oh.. and awesome that the race is running a Rubber Tire class (just to bring it back on topic).

One of the other big advantages to the 1/18th speedo's is that they're cheap. It would save about $100 compared to the RS. The Novak might not be as fast but it's an inexpensive alternative for the guys that are on a budget.

I'll be running the Tekin this year but some might want a cheaper speedo.

For the Pro 10 class, what will the batteries be? 4 cell - 6 cell - or Lipo
