Right now I have an aftermarket part from God kwons where. I have the brushless centering pod setup on my car.
Not sure if the stock part will work because of the lenght of the carbon portion of my axle that is remaining after the flanged bearing.
I ordered the ASC4609 part and not received it yes, so maybe someone else has one and could check.

If your 4609 doesn't have a lip on the wide side of the cone, you might want to try an IRS right side hub... that should let you run the 4555 that came in the 12R5 kit. I don't know if the IRS hub comes in blue tho...
hold on a sec...I have an idea... be rite back.

Canuck,
Well, I thought the 4609 might be from the 10R5 so I downloaded the 10R5 manual to see if the drawing of the part would show if it had a lip or not on the wide side, but the 10R5 uses the 4555 part so no answer there.
An unanswered question really bugs me, it's like an itch right between the shoulder blades that I can't quite reach... SO, I called Associated's tech support and asked if they knew... the guy who answered the phone put me on hold for a minute, went and had a look at a 4609 cone, and came back on and told me it DOES indeed have the lip on the wide side just like the 4555.
When your 4609 arrives, you should be good to go.

Here's a picture of a bmi narrow right hub... njote how they narrwed it at the wheel flange, but kept the width at teh bearing the same... this one would work with a standard size cone... the Associated hub (and the one in Canuck's picture) is narrower everywhere asnd needs the wider cone to work...

servo question...
Hi guys, I'm looking at a 12r5 and would like to 'recycle' as much electronics as possible. Will a "normal" sized servo fit in the 12r5? I have a futaba S9551 I'd like to use. Thanks!

It might fit but I doubt it and the chassis is not slotted so you'd have to drill new holes if not. You'll be much farther ahead of the game to get a Futaba S9650, only costs $60 new and can be found at times for around $40 for a nice used one.

To make the AE RC12R5 centered for brushless you need the 10R5 Upper (8512) and Lower (8511) Pod plates, brushless thrust cone washer (4608) and brushless hub (4609).
I actually ordered the brushless centered pod parts today and should be getting the kit soon. Time to make the switch to a link car for the 1s LiPO.
Update: When reading through this thread I found this post from JuhoL about the Yokomo Worlds rear pod. Looks like the Yokomo parts do not center the rear pod for brushless.

That's fine. I never got the centered pod for mine. Now that our carpet season is over it don't matter. I just always like the yokomo name that's all.. Ill get a new one for next season. Mabe they will have a 17.5 class for us. The 10.5 was a blast this year too.
I do still like the fact of never repacking dampner tubes..lol

I was looking at the pics from the 2009 Carpet Nats on rc50.com and saw some 12R5's with some different rear pods. Were those prototype rear pods?
