Does this then mean there are no limits on the number of cells as long as they are configured with 2 cells in series and the whole thing fits within the case dimeansions?

As long as a pack has 7.4 (2 cells in series) and is within the maximum size it will be fine. This means a 2S4P would be fine as long as it's within the size.

Did some "re-con" for ya.

The 4000, this one:
http://www.stormerhobbies.com/cgi-bi...umb=on&smode=0
weighs 242 grams with all the wires, as it comes out of the box.

The 5000, this one:
http://www.stormerhobbies.com/cgi-bi...umb=on&smode=0
weighs 287 grams with all the wires, as it comes out of the box.

Hope that helps.
-Bob

The weight of the 4000 is 240 grams.

Eli Ezrow ran the 5000 pack in the first qualifier tonight in TC Foam 27T and set the TQ. Were not sure if they are faster than NiMh but they do seem competitive.

Thanks Bob and Danny!!

Actually, that's a fair bit (like a bit over 28%) heavier than the Carbon 3200 (187g to 240g...about 2 ounces). It's got 25% more capacity too, so that weight difference should not be a surprise. I've got a situation where the weight makes a difference...trying to get a TC3 down to weight. I don't need the extra capacity, but I GOTTA run SMC if I've got the choice. I'll just have to leave one of the wheels off or something.

Bob--you'll have pm in a few.

Maybe yours is weighing in Canadian and doing some exchange rates.

EnerG 4600 is 442 grams but I'm sure it depends on what bars are used on the pack.

The 4000 fits but the 5000 will require some fitting to get the battery tray to close. I think it wil require some grinding of the bulkhead where the shaft for the spur gear goes through.

I do not think I can grind the case down some and stay ROAR legal. If I measured correctly I would need to grind .065" off the bulkhead. That includes the plastic tray in the measurement. There is not much material there to begin with. I would rather go with the 5000 but looks like I may need to look at a different pack.

Has anyone tried to make a 5000 pack fit without ill handling effects with the bulkhead mod?
