I'm just trying to bump up this thread since its a less popular car than the other TA cars here in US with a story. So I'm competing again for TCS Nat's here in US this year with a TA06 in GT2 class (17.5). As far as I can tell, same as last year, I seem to be the only one running this chassis. Everyone else is either sticking with the TA05/TB03 version or jumping to the TB04. A disadvantage of this is I really have no one else to compare to as far as setups go and advantage is the opposite where no one else can copy me if ever I do well (hehe). Last year during the quals I forecasted to be within top 10. Finishing 4th and 7th in my 1st and 2nd qual. Unfortunately I had a big car accident going back home and could no longer finish the race the next day. So hopefully this year I can prove that the chassis can compete with the proven, lighter and more efficient TA05's. I mean there must be a reason this chassis is a winner and more popular in Japan right?
My TA06 Version R should be coming in soon. I want to try the new low profile suspension and use it as a back up car. Comments or suggestions? Wish me luck, Preparation has begun.

Good luck! I'll be looking for you I ran TA06 in TCS regional, but I am intermediate racer so I am in GT3. Plan to run TA06 again. I really enjoy this chassis. I have a lightweight (1450 on the money) a "bulletproof" (much heavier) and a TA06MS (only GT1 legal).

I have just bought a TB04 Pro II to see what everyone else is doing.

Exactly why do so many prefer the ta05 over the ta06? When I owned it, I thought the ta06 was a very well rounded chassis

I am the only one at my local track that regularly runs a TA06 chassis.
I have two of them. I'm currently running one in USGT.
I'm sitting in 3rd place in the series and the first two cars are a TRF417 and an Awsomatix.

I think the TA05 is preferred because it's a standard configuration that has been around for a long time.
The TA06 does have more drag in the drivetrain and it can take a while to get a decent setup working.

For those who are searching for more speed in their TA06 chassis, install the TRF418 suspension.
This will make the car faster then it already is.
So far no TA05 chassis has overtaken my TA06 pro chassis and i've been racing it for over 2 years now.
The car is very fast with the right setup.
I've been helping several TA06 car owners and they all improved their laptimes significantly.
It just depends on the right setup and perhaps on the driver too

Hi all, I want to buy one car and I want to choose between a TA05 or TA06.
I already have a Sakura Xi Sport that I use in the local track, and now I'd like something different
Well, I notice that:
TA-05: has solid axle (front) and ball diff (rear) .. I do hate ball diffs..
TA-06: has gear diff (rear, ok!) but no solid axle in front.. will it cause me to upgrade the front ?
What would you suggest for me to buy between the 2 cars ?

You can get ball/solid/one way/gear diffs for both at both ends. Tamiya or aftermarket are available.

If you are racing, a solid front (or a gear diff with THICK fluid) and gear diff rear is current best practice.

To add a gear diff to the TA05 is about $20-$25

To add a solid (spool) front end to the TA06 costs about the same.

Or, you can just buy the TA06 pro with upgrade pack (92243 about $280-$300), and then you get a spool, sway bars, DCJs, alloy steering and a few other pieces.

The TA05 is getting harder to get and is an older design, but being a true belt car is closer to the top end race cars in terms of driveline than the TA06 is. The 06 has some neat features and an interesting hybrid driveline, plus good balance but is very fussy with motors, batteries and electronics (wiring!) unless you modify the plastic slightly.

Having said that, the current "R" version of the TA06 (84378 about $220-$250) would be my pick. It uses the new styles TRF418 suspension, plus has alloy suspension mounts, carbon reinforced plastics, carbon shock towers and HEX SCREWS! It is a bit of a bargain and would be a fast spec racer in the right hands.

It has a gear diff at both ends, but you can fill this with 100,000wt oil or putty to give more front end drive. Or change to a spool for not much money.

In the right hands a ta06 is enough, but move to a fast mod class and the double deck cars will prove to be superior.

Second hand you could find a TRF417 for about the same money as a new TA06 (pro kit), a new TRF418 - if you can find one, will be $450+

$450 sounds like a lot, but, you can spend that easily on a 06 to get competitive!

Adding sway bars, hard suspension blocks, alloy ball cups and turnbuckles everywhere, upgraded CF plastics, front DCJs, alloy steering, decent shocks - boom! You've hit the cost of a TRF car.

I just was looking for a TA06 to have something different.
Will my Lipo (Turnigy 2S2P 6600 65C, size 138x46x25mm) fit inside the ta06 ?
