Default track width

i was wondering if anyone has messed around with the track width of the car i.e. adding or removing shims on the axle between the wheel hex and the wheel..... does a wider car equal more stability? does a wider rear end relitive to the front yeild more overall steering? thanks........

Default Andy Moore setup

Those that are running Mod, with foam tires on carpet, give Andy Moore's Cleveland setup a try that was posted last week. I ran it last Saturday and the car AWESOME. The setup I was running was real close except the roll center settings. Those made a big difference as my car had TONS of corner speed.
The only problem I had was all the other cars in the track had to slow down for some corners and I kept rear ending them when I was lapping. Even a sweeper at the end of the straight that everyone else was slowing for I was taking at full tilt

take care
john

Wider rear: usually more steering, more reactive.

I tend to think making the car wider all around frees it up, but I can't confirm that for sure.

Just out of curiosity...why such a high roll center? Isn't 5mm just a bit too much?

Yes I have a little. I even stopped using the stock clamp on hex and just use a Associated hex. They are thicker and don't require any shims to make it wide. I does seem to free it up a little. Good for carpet.

take care

5mm would be too high. The roll center is actually .5mm or 1/2 mm using the thick chassis. So if you have the stock chassis use 1mm to make op for the chassis thickness difference. I thought I wrote .5 on the sheet, maybe when tres retyped it he forgot the decimal point.
On the subject of wider, you'll notice my setup says Gas hubs. I use the gas hubs because they are wider than the Aluminum ones and allow more contact with the rim. I also use 1 thick shim athe the wheel to add even more width.
