Well if you all recall, the laid down horizontal config. is how all the F1 chassis started out. But, then they decided that sacrificing center of gravity was worth it to get equal steering in both direction. Personally, I think the vertical is better, but thats just me.
Hey guys I was about to get a Tamiya F1 and I had a question. My question is what pitch gears do they use on the F1 cars. Do the use regular 48 pitch or what?

well the stock Tamiya gears uses Tamiya 0.6 module which is almost like 48-pitch but a little off.

You guys that are talking about the F104 in the Dutch forums. Can you give us the link to an official site that states the F104 will be used next year?

What you have to do is replace the spurgear + ball bearings and the pinion gear. Kimbrough makes a 75T 48 pitch spurgear specifically made for direct drive cars. They are the same gears that ship with many electric sedans (like the TC3,) but the hole in the middle is larger for a bearing to fit into. If you switch the spur to 48 pitch, you can use any brand of 48 pitch pinions. It's a good way to go because you can get gear ratios in the 5:1 to 6:1 range very easily.

Rubber or foam tires
I run a F103 RS whit foam tires from Tamiya. I also have the Type A rubber tires from Tamiya, but i dont like them, ther are now inserts for these tires and i think the are to soft. A shop here in holland sell Ride tires for the F103. I like foam tires very much but rubber tires are very realistic.

Hey guys, HPI makes some 64 pitch gears with a bearing adapter. It comes with diff balls and costs about five bucks. You than can use thee adapter on any gear. HPI part #76694 is a 64p 94 tooth that works well on 103 and lm. JEFF

Re: Rubber or foam tires
rimaracing
I prefer foams. I run soft in the rear and medium up front. If I'm getting push, I'll switch to soft up front. I don't like the rubber tires.

the rubber tiers in my oppinion are a better tire, but it all depends on what your car is set up for. there is certain parts that work with foam and certain parts that work better with rubber.
rimaracing you said the A's were to soft try a type b tire the bs are ment for warm weather the As are ment for colder weather. But like i said before a car with foam parts on will not work at all with rubber tires.
