Default Comm's

I guarantee if you cut a motor using this "method" and dyno it, then cut it properly and dyno it again you'll see a substantial performance difference. Using a comm lathe does more than just "make the comm shiny". It might work for the basher or casual club racer, but for serious racing there is only one way to cut a motor.

Jonathan, I aint mad atcha. Why waste your money on a lathe when you run brushless....use the "ghetto lathe" to clean and run with the realz.....BRUSHLESS. Pilot, over there giving you tips like brushed motors are still relevant.....poor fella.....brushes are for hair

Horrible advice the whole point to cutting your comm is to get it round, you are probably going to make it worse by doing that. Somebody should delete this thread before somebody thinks this is a good alternative.

Pilot. Dyno's are for Sissies also!

If you are very careful and apply just the right amount of pressure utalizing the sandpaper you can make the com perfectly round! You don't need a dyno to tell you that the motor is running strong. That method died years ago! You guys got to try this method! Last year a qualified for the L main at Vegas doing this!

For those of us that don't have a comm lathe.....what is the best way to maintain a comm in between cuts? I have been using a metal polish and drill to take some of the black stuff off the comm and make it shiny again. Is this stupid? I also try to use motor spray after each run.

thanks
