yes sir you can run 28/55t on a tt-01....
and yes the motor will get pretty hot.. so it is recommended that you get a heatsink or get a heatsink that has built-in fan on top of it 3racing have that kind of heatsink w/fan and a metal motor mount on your tt-01.. metal motor mount will act like a heatsink coz its metal..
see pix for your gearings..

but i think getting a 28t pinion is a lil' harder.. coz if im not wrong kawada is the one who makes 28t pinion(48pitch)

tt-01 gears arnt 48p. Go to your LHS and get the proper tt-01 gears.

Just to expand on this. No Tamiya gears are 48dp. Standard kit gears are 0.6mm pitch, and the Evo/TRF kit gears are 0.4mm pitch, which is close to but not exactly equal to 64dp.

Robinson Racing sells "metric" 48 pitch pinions which work on tamiya cars. I use them on my TT-01, M-03, and M-04. They are stronger and last longer than aluminum.

"metric" 48 pitch is NOT 48dp. This is a term that has been coined by Tamiya themselves but what they are referring to are their 0.6mm pitch gears, and, if you do the conversion, this is equivalent to 42.3333dp.

There will be no problem if you use pinions and spurs that match, so a Robinson Racing "metric" 48 pitch pinion will match a Tamiya 06 module spur and vice versa, but don't try running a mix of 48dp and "metric" 48 pitch because there will be tears before tea, as my granny used to say

Tobee used to sell some, but I don't know if they still have any. If your wanting more speed, I would recommend putting another motor in there just to be on the safe side.
