I ran 19t at the weekend at a warm up meeting for the summer, it was my first meeting with 19t after racing mod for 10 years +.

The speed was better than expected.......but i could only get 1.5 runs out of a set of brushes, i was using the team scream H1 brush and the F lines. is this common, this was even after skimming and re seating the brushes.

The comm and the +ve brush would go black so it has been arcing but it does not seem to be sticking anywhere.

Anyone else come across this before?

For a lot of outdoors 19T racing lots run the Trinity XXX brush they get 20+ great runs... Hope this helps..

But are these a high performance brush?

Would you use them for nationals etc?

i dont mind replacing brushed every run but i just wanted to know if what i was experiencing was common?

Yes they are a great brush. I have ran and tuned a few motors that made National A mains with this brush in past. There real popular outdoors in Florida in the US for 19T racing. As far as power you will be more than happy. When most brushes tend to heat up and fade 4 minutes in these keep rolling strong..

I don't know about H1s but I use 767s and they last more than that, went to bedworth recently andcould probably do more than 6 runs on a set of brushes.

Sounds like you could have brush hoods out of line or geared totally wrong also. Check with others to see what gear there running to get a good starting gear.

Yeah possibly, this was supposed to be a tuned motor and alignment should have been checked during this i just thought it was very odd, its not as if the car slowed gradually, but litterally just stopped it doesnt even look like the brush has blued through excesive heat but the face has just gone black

sounds like a F line brush issue.

they are inconsistent you may of had a bad pair.

xxx's hmmm still not convinced on these and at about £8 a pair chaqnging them every run is silly.

try the motor with a trusty pair of 4499's or full face 767's, if it blacks up again, strip the motor and realign everything and do it again...

if still no luck take it back and moan like hell.

It did the same with the H1 pair of brushes too, this makes me think it more of a motor issue than brushes.

Are the F lines that inconsistent?

I have heard you can get a bad pair but are they this bad?

I've been running the XXX brushes for awhile in my Reedy QM 19T (carpet foam sedan class) out of the brushes I have tried the XXX brushes last the longest. I usually skim the comm between runs because it burns up(sometimes) but the brushes have no burnt look to them. Then I reseat the brushes for a few minutes with no load and at low voltage. I also check the spring tension with a Fiddlestick to see if the tension of the springs didn't weaken with heat or with a shorter brush.

I have heard there has been a bad batch over a year ago but lately the F brushes I use in my Axiom Atlas blue-can have been doing well.

We just got around 1000 pairs and have seen good results on the Dyno and also great feedback from Customers so our batch is good - and on sale right now as well

This really sounds like more of a gearing issue.

Are you geared comparable to other's on the same track?

yes i was geared at 5.5 most people were around this, the speed was good and it wasnt getting hot which also throws me a bit.
