oh man!

i got an estimate on the body paint job i want, and it's gonna cost me $100!!! errr....i think i might just try this myself....lol. anyone kno anybody else who can do it for cheaper???

Custom paint jobs are expensive but once you realize how much time and skill go into great paint jobs you'll see why. I stopped doing custom work in my area cuz the most people want to pay around here for a painted body is $45 and it just isnt worth the time.

Who did you get a quote from:confused:

100$ does seem a bit hight..but then again you are paying for "Quality" at that price....:D

Dave- he got the estimate from me. The quote included a flame job, 3D paint peels, woven carbon fiber paint on the front, the body, and shipping. Keep in mind $30 of it is body and shipping that I don't make a penny on.

Reflekt- sorry if the price was higher than you expected. Anything less for custom one time paint jobs just isn't worth the time. LMK if you're interested in the future....

Jason your work is worth $100

Mr. Lutz paint Jobs are worth every penny:nod:

Pricing Estimates

For the pictured body, I'd probably do the paint work for around CDN$90-100 (That's Canadian Dollars).. Plus body (CDN$30-35) Plus shipping (Air Parcel typically CDN$20-30). I'd most likely also paint in the head/taillights, I usually do unless asked otherwise. Usually.

I'd also likely make some small changes to the design; I don't like to do outright copies. Besides, while nice, that flame pattern is a bit of a yawn ;)

So anyway, long story short, BigDog's estimate is right on the ball. Don't be too put out, there's always going to be some stickershock when it comes to the nicer designs.

Not intended to pirate BD's potential client, just to back up the price quote.

All best,
KMaynes

Custom Paint Job

I race at the same home track as BigDogRacing (Jason Lutz). I will tell you that every paint job he does is FIRST CLASS. I have watched him paint a number of bodies, including the one I run and he takes his time and gets it right. If you want a body to look like the XXX-S Graphite plus body you have to be willing to pay for it. Just my .02 cents

BTW here is a pic of my body, just to add another example for you to look at. his website is in my signature line, BigDog Graphics.
