Cub86 posted the question: Hi. I'm struggling to understand the lay down situation. I run on high bite damp smooth clay and think the conversation would help on my surface but from what I'm reading I need to buy the lay down kit tlr338004. And the dirt gear case tlr332063. But do I really need both from what I've read the dirt case is 1-2mm higher anyway and u don't use the +3mm hubs or the front pivot hrc or Hrc mod. So is the dirt lay down kit tlr332063 is all that's needed to get me a lay down set up that's suited for clay With the components and car I already have. And if I only get the dirt case is there any problems that will need to be addressed IE.. bone plunge . I do know I'll need 1mm spacers on the waterfall to clear the battery. Thanks guys really trying to get my head around this.

Franks response:
Laydown Conversion will work great by itself. You run the aluminum +3mm hubs, the diff is +3.5mm, and you run the HRC front setup. Just follow a setup sheet from tlracing.com (Frank Root).

Dirt Tranny has the diff at the same height as the standard tranny case, and works with the standard plastic hubs. Both are +/- 0mm from stock. When you run this, no need to run the HRC front mod either.

I've found the stock laydown conversion parts to work great for most tracks. The dirt tranny is a great tuning option, but definitely not 'required'.

Something I made, pretty basic. Just to give people an idea.

For those interested about their pre-orders from A Main my order just shipped out. I ordered mine on the day of announcement, had my pre-order cancelled per the new policy, then re-ordered the next day.

Holy Cow!!!

I do believe I just received a shipped confirmation for my TLR 22-3 from Amain, I say believe since their email is not entirely clear and I have two pending orders with them. It does show the kit in the outline so I am praying it shows up tomorrow along with the parts to complete this sucker!

1- TLR 22-3 kit
2- MKS X6 HBL575 Brushless Servo (High Voltage)
3- Schelle Nova Stock Slipper assembly
4- Airtronics 472 receiver
5- (2) TLR stock wings ( I eat these things for lunch)
6- Team Losi Racing Aluminum Servo Horn
7- Acer Racing ceramic bearing set
8- Schelle Racing 3/32" Tungsten Carbide and Ceramic Thrust Set
9- (2) Pro-Line Racing Electron 2.2" Rear Buggy Tires (2) (MC)
10- (2) Pro-Line Racing Electron 2.2" 2wd Front Buggy Tires (2) (MC)
11- Reedy Black Box ESC and programmer (Is this sacrilege ;-P)
12- Team Losi Racing "Low Frequency" Front Spring Set (4 pair)
13- Team Losi Racing "Low Frequency" Rear Spring Set (5 pair)
14- D4 1S 17.5 that Jim Dieters took the time to tune and repair when a new motor had everything wrong with it. Dying to test this one out as it has been sitting in a box for a couple months.
15- Team Losi Racing 12mm CNC Machined Shock Piston (4) (1.6x2) I liked these in my B5M so going with them again.

I do believe I am ready to get this build done with already!

Has anyone else actually received a shipped order for a TLR 22-3 kit from Amain yet?

I have a Savox 1258TG in mine. I used no spacers as this servo has a pretty deep offset. The line formed between the center of the rack ballstud and the center of the servo horn ballstud is perpendicular to the centerline of the chassis lengthwise when the servo is in the neutral position. This is how it should be regardless of what servo you use. Use the spacers to get there.

Default Setup Sheets

There are some setup sheets on the TLR website now. However, there is no direct way to get to them on the site so you will need to use this link temporarily.

I didn't have any problem getting to the same page through the Setup Sheets header menu on the 22 3.0 page. ?

I was using the very top level menu: "Support"->"Setup Sheets" and then looking for the 22 3.0 in the drop-down box list. It isn't there.

But what you have said definitely works. Sorry for the confusion. TLR just needs to update that drop-down box on their site to make it complete.

My backorder (from Amain) hadn't shipped so I cancelled it, reordered and applied the 10%/off coupon.

Amain has both of those. If I remember right it a $129 and $89. Buy a chassis protector and use the $25off 250.

I have a Tekin Gen2 Redline 9.5T. Can I use this on the Orion stock ESC?

yeah but if your looking to run mod its probably best to run either a 120 amp or 160 amp version to protect against any failures.

I ordered my 3.0 from Amain last night, along with a 2.0. They'll be here Wednesday. That's just way to good of a price to pass up on the 2.0.
I'm going to pick up a XB2 from RC America later this week also as they're here local for me. I'll have a bunch of building to do.
