Newbie question. I just bought a MyLaps Transponder. The instructions say to not mount it on metal. Where are people mounting the MyLaps on this truck?

I mounted mine on the chassis in front of the servo, with the wire run under the servo.

Default Screws for clamping hex

When mounting my new clamping hexes on my SC5M I broke one of the tiny screws that holds it on. Is there any way I can get just the screws or am just out of luck and have to buy new hexes. I just have to give it one more turn when its tight (snap)

You may be able to run a screw from the other hex in from the opposite side while working with a pic or xacto blade to work it loose. I forget if the hexes are blind holes or not (drilled all the way through) but believe they are.

I surprised you were able to snap the screw, mine strip just using my hand with a hex driver bit only

This is an email I sent to AE directly and they promptly responded:

Hello AE,

What is the correct part number combination to convert the SC5M to front clamping hexes/axles, also, what is the correct width hex (ie., 6.0mm?) I see that on several websites and the SC5M manual, that the 71013 part is compatible with the SC5M; can you please confirm this. Also if there are any issues, can you enlighten me on them? I have searched the internet up and down and I figured I’d go to the horse’s mouth. So bottom line, what AE parts do I need to convert my SC5M to front clamping hexes? Thanks for the info and your time in advance.

V/R

Jeff McCoy

AE response:

Jeff,

The correct hex is #71034 for the front axle. The axle that goes with the 6.0mm hex is #71013. Unfortunately, at the moment, the axle does not quite fit the as the threads are alittle short and do not tighten the wheel all the way. For the time being, you can use a washer to take up the gap while the new axles are being circulated in if you have them already.

Thank You,

Has anyone gotten any response on this? I've emailed twice now with no response.

The 6.0mm work with the stock AE wheels, but does not with some wheels that are thinner in the axle area. One such wheel is the DE Racing Speedline. I used a 2 mm washer for a while, but replaced the hexes with the 8.5 mm (Part #: 71014). Works perfectly with all brands of wheels.

This only works if you're not using +3mm wheels as 6mm hexes with +3mm wheels are the maximum allowed width. I prefer to use the same wheels front and back, so I just use a washer under the nut.

I was able to get the broken screw out. I was just wondering if there is a way to get just the screws or if you know the size of the screws. Thanks
