Problems
I was hoping to run my SC5M this weekend, but that does not like it will happen. I ended up with two defective turnbuckles in the kit. I've contacted AE customer support, but shipping from west coast to east coast will take a few days.

I finally got my roller done. It came out awesome although it seems like I hardly used any of the kit parts. Its very tight and smooth. Since I used the set up from my T5M I had to use ballstuds that I had already so I'm thinking that the improvements in the turnbuckles are the cups and not the balls like many have suggested. Its the best 5 series kit that I've built to date.

AE could step up their game regarding QA. Plenty of errors in the manual, and their parts weren't up to snuff. my CV-shafts were too large to fit my bearings. I had to wear them down a little just to get them to fit. My buddy had zero issues with his, they fit like a charm. Mine, not so much. I also ended up with extra parts (not that I'm complaining on that end of the spectrum... I earned them for the work that I had to do just to get the CV-shafts to work.)

You need to buy the top shaft part # 91606 you need case part # 91607 and you need gear cover #91604 and motor plate #91603 and you use the parts from the 4 gear tranny

Everything but the B5M team kit comes with the new V2 4 gear case that has the new top shaft so you don't need the top shaft with the SC5M.

I went ahead and put an MIP 3 gear in my truck. My honest feeling is that it's necessary because of the weight of the truck. SCs are really heavy and I'm sure the motors, especially stock, are going to run hot. The MIP box seems to lower the temps of my other cars significantly so it seemed like a no brainer. I haven't got my truck track ready yet but most of the SC5s that I've seen barely make weight in stock trim with a shorty pack so the MIP becomes even more attractive as it adds 8 grams.

Ive slowly been reading through this thread i was wondering is anyone tested with a shorty VS square pack and what are the benefits to the square pack
#554
Same thing applies, weight tune-ablility with the shorty.
