yeah the only thing is that the rules here are set for 1/8 e buggy weight on 4S, so I am looking to make that basically.

Big thing for me is to share parts

They've proven to be very durable during testing. The plan is to sell the aluminum braces in singles instead of sets so you can buy one at a time as you need them.

Out of curiosity, what is that minimum weight?

eBuggy has a minimum weight limit of 3200g
eBuggy lite has a maximum weight limit of 3200g in most rule sets.
Some rule sets include limiting to 2s and/or short course motors as well.

There is no roar or ifmar class for this though, so these have been general rules adopted across many tracks. Other rules in the class for things such as dimensions match the full normal eBuggy rules.

Side note: most ebuggies can make that lite weight by swapping to sc motor and normal 2s battery size, though some need additional light or missing parts. Tekno can easily go between the two as it was designed to be near the minimum weight to start with for the full eBuggy EB48.

How far from that would you be with the "regular" eb48? If you can't take advantage of the sl's light weight then it seems more sensible to get the standard buggy's strength and part longevity advantage to me.

Thats why I am asking about the durability of this new vehicle which from what I coudl tell sounded like a lot of it was tied to the bearings that appear to be improved.

we may even start a class like this I am thinking, but that is secondary.

Also, I want to share parts here as well.

I wouldn't be surprised a torquey 540 or "545" motor could work quite well. The Hobbywing 3656SD motor I used felt just right. Not sure what ESC you are looking at, but the 120A Speed Passion GT2.0 Pro ESC I had worked with the Tekin 4 pole 550 but I had to be really conservative with my settings, great motor, but I wanted something that I didn't feel I was on the cusp with.

This year will try vipers VF4500 motor as I am hearing for a 540 it feels close to the HW.

Use a 550. These are 6+lbs and the wheel/tires are larger diameter than an SCT's. Better to have a little extra and dial a little out with the current limiter than to run a 540 closer to it's load limit.

i agree, though depending on what 120A esc you may need to be really conservative on settings.
