Assuming that the 4-pole Reedy Sonic 540 would be fine for this truck. 4300 or 4700 better all around motor (medium sized indoor track)?

I'm thinking of buying the 410.3 and since very few people at my track race 4wd, I'd like to make it a track runner/outdoor basher. Does anyone know if they make a good quality waterproof esc and motor that would work well with this truck? I'm thinking mamba max 2 with a high kv motor? I'd prefer tekin, but they don't do waterproof.

Looking for something a little easier on batteries than a 550 4-pole. lol. Had a Hobbywing 4700 in my last Tekno and liked it but didn't often let it rip. I'm pretty smooth (gentle) on the throttle. Some guys still say the Pro4 4600 is capable in this truck along with the SMC 4500 so I'm sure the 540 4-poles are fine. Guess I'm just getting older and realize that I don't have it like these young studs anymore

Not sure, but for $95 for the combo with the 120a ESC (Which fits the esc plate on the tekno's) It's kinda an easy pick for waterproof...I used the 120a for 2 race days with a 1900kv motor, worked great on 4s.

You absolutely do not need a 550 4 pole. I'm going to be blunt, people that are running anything more than a 540 2 pole are running too much motor. I've been pretty annoyed watching/marshalling for 4x4 short course recently because people are simply running too much motor. The guys who are winning are not pulling wheelies....they simply aren't crashing. My son is very fast with his truck and runs a Viper 4500 tuned down to make it driveable. He is very precise with it and rarely makes contact with other drivers.

Agree ^^^^^ Guess I'll pick up the Reedy Sonic 4300 and a couple Promatch 8000 packs.

Thanks for the tip on that! I have a 2wd SCT and a 2wd buggy right now. Very few people run 4wd, outside of beginners who are driving 4wd slashes they just received as a christmas present. The owner of the track really doesn't like 4wd SCT vehicles on his track, and there aren't enough of them to make it worth racing them, but I'd like to change that if possible as we're starting to get a few more people with at least "moderate" skill who have 4wd SCT vehicles from Tekno, Team Associated and of course some people with the Traxxas Slash who've made a few upgrades and want to actually practice for a race vs. simply trying to bash everyone on the track.
As for power, I know that the Tekin Gen 3 13.5T was not enough motor for my TLR 22SCT 2.0 for our track. No matter what I did, it either got hot after a few runs OR it would not provide enough power for the straights...all depending on the timing settings I picked in the Gen 2 ESC. Now that could definitely be because of me and my driving skills, but I found the Gen 2 10.5T with the 13mm rotor to be the perfect fit for my needs. Plenty of power and I can run all day long without exceeding 140F. (Anyone want a Gen 3 13.5T with 2 runs on it.
Back to the Tekno, I think it makes more sense to buy the Xmaxx for outdoor bashing (or just use the Axial Yeti XL I already have) and build the Tekno using quality components I can actually use for racing as well as practice...so I'm leaning towards Tekin gear again.
