TA and Ky are going to have to turn up with a 'front-mid' conversion like this to be anywhere near the pace... If not, Yokomo (Martin) and Shumacher (Bloomfield) will dominate... TLR might just hang in there with the 22, the motor is quite far forward. The key is reaction to motor inertia, as well as weight distribution. Conventional mid motors are going to be well off the pace.

It will be interesting to see what AE, Kyosho, Serpent and HB make for the worlds. Lee Martin is looking very good at the moment though! I'm sure the top guys wherever they are from will come through though, you just won't see some drivers how normally are quick on dirt being able to translate that onto astro. But then we've had the same thing in reverse. You could never say that Martin or Bloomfield or no good on dirt though!

We are seeing at our local track traditional mid motors just don't have the pace to be quick, even when the traction drops because of rain etc. A few local guys have the Serpent 2wd buggy but they just aren't on the pace anymore and has to be driven very hard, the KF2 and YZ2 can be driven smoother but still be quicker.

At round 1 of this year's UK Nats at the weekend, Ellis said he was really struggling to keep up with the forward motor cars with his 22 2.0, said he couldn't carry anywhere near enough corner speed.

Neil Cragg on the other hand TQ'd with his B5m, not sure if he was using a 3 gear box in it though. Lee Martin won.

Yep another win for the Yokomo and that is on an astro surface that is quite sandy so not super high grip..

Remember back a couple years when the Cactus was first sugared...Kyosho and TLR went mid-motor for the first time at a national level event. AE had the B4.2 and couldn't. Tebo won with his mid-motored RB6 but Maifield got 2nd with a rear motor B4.2. The new mid motor cars will shine brightest but I wouldn't be surprised to see a 'conventional' mid motor or few in the mix as well.
