Default Slash 2WD white smoke out of engine

Hello all, new to forums. I just cleaned my slash the other day, used electrical cleaner in motor. Change to Big Bore shocks and went to test on street. All good until I drove in reverse and started to hear a bit of a grind or slipping sound. Then started when driving forward (15 min in test). Stopped car and could smell something (weird smell) and saw white smoke coming from engine (stock engine). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Car cooling and hopefully not wrecked. Checked pinion gear and gear sprocket (not sure of name) and both looked good.

Welcome to the world of titan 12t motors, they don't last. Yours is clearly toast, just go to your LHS and they should be able to hook you up with a new one for around $25. It's nothing you did wrong.

Thanks. May become kids car and may go out and buy 4X4 brushless. To upgrade car to brushless here (Canada) will cost with new batteries over 250, 389 buys new brushless.

if you don't have a hobby shop close, Pepboys also carries traxxas items. not sure if you have those up in Canada though.

In Canada, Great Hobbies/ greathobbies.com is the place to go. Best price in Canada guaranteed and great service. Going brushless is the solution, but as you said its $200 vs $390 for a complete truck, $450 to go 4x4.

Dollarhobbyz.com my friend.....

About $57 for motor / $75 for ESC ($140 USD total for Velinion system). You can get the 8 Cell NiMH pack for around $15 from there too.....works fine with the brushless system until you want to move to Lipos.

I get A LOT of parts from them for my kid's Slashes, as well as my Mugen race buggy.

I would say that a castle combo will be a better value than the VXL.

the castle system without a doubt is better value, but not plug and play. If you feel comfortable soldering and don't mind playing with gearing, the 4600kv combo is the way to go
