Thanks to all for the responses. There is no timing advance programmed, no drag brake, has new bearings, new fluids, and free spins easily. Actually posting for my son, Chris R., (think you have talked to him Randy) who asked me to post for him. Can't really get a "faster driver" to run it since he has won /tq'd every race he has on it (except jconcepts at smac trac, dang qual points). everyone has their own driving style, his is "roll in smooth, exit fast" with very little braking. Either way, need a backup motor so gonna go that route. Motor has had it's share of 170-185 runs but keeps on going.

That's fine, but I suspect that won't fix this issue. Repeated running even at 190f won't really affect the motor all that much...

I think it's either the battery or you have some binding somewhere. I was running the exact same setup and switched to an 18t pinion which brought my temps down so I doubt it's the gearing. I wouldn't get over 165 on the motor. I think I remember Tekin saying to stay under 200 on temps and you should be good. 180 should be not problem.

Run an old battery and your new battery both for 5 minutes and see if they both take back similar mah when you charge them . Eliminate the battery doubt ...

Agreed - After 1.5 years the motor may have a weak rotor now, and that could bear into your issues. I would at least put this option on the table.

Truck runs smooth, no binding anywhere. I had a 16t on the truck and I was pulling off at close to 200, so I went up to a 17t and it droped. I never had a problem last year making 10-11 mins. On a pack so idk what has changed. Anything else I could check.

And last year I never had to run the current limiter, and Saturday I had to run it at 70.
And if anyone's wondering why my dad posted for me it's because he's a teacher and there out for school so he has nothing better to do

I'm betting your batteries have a cell that's bad and causing it to drop lower and hit your LVC

What's the IR on your cells while charging?

Idk what you mean by ir? But they both balance at 4.2 if that's what your talking about.

Internal resistance. Some chargers can tell you this. the higher the IR the more the cell is "old/worn out/damaged".

I run the buggy and a 19t pinion... 17 with smaller tires of the sct means its gonna be spending more time at high rpm... that causes lots of pull from the battery. Kinda lines up with your higher temps at 200 with the 16t

this is the out door we run at.

I also run the 19t on the clay indoor too.
