1/8-Scale Buggy Shootout
Hey guys,
Over at XRC we just completed a comprehensive shootout of the top six 1/8-scale buggies in the US market. We've posted a video and the drivers' diaries at our website: www.rc411.com The issue should be in subscribers' hands now and on newsstands in about a week, if not sooner. Be sure to check it out, and we'd love to hear any feedback you might have! |
Hmmm, going to have to get that issue for sure.

What no Hyper 7 in the test? TQ at the worlds not good enough? :p
|
Futureal,
I started my subscription yesterday because of the shootout. Is there anyway you could email me the setup yall used for the Jammin? I also just bought this buggy because of the shootout on Monday. |
1/8 shoot out
read the article and it is very good. The Ofna camp sent the Jammin and not the Hyper 7. Might be suprised on the results.

Ahh ok Thanks. I plan to check it out anyway, as im in the market for a buggy at the moment :) My LHS only stocks the Hobao Hyper 7's so thats my front running choice at the moment, but was interested to see how it faired in this situation. Not to worry :)

v0rtex: The Hyper 7 was not included because OFNA chose to enter the Jammin instead (as buggyman said).
Brad8283: I will ask Stephen tomorrow if we have those typed up somewhere. |
was the GS the CL1 or the older storm? :tire:
|
it was the avenger

The CL-1 was released only three days ago. I really want to see a test of this buggy.

Brad8283, congrats on your Jammin' buggy purchase--it's a sweet ride.
The basic set up we started with is Jay Halsey's base setup he uses for almost all tracks. We obviously tweaked the set up slightly as needed for the exact track we ran at Thunder Alley, but this is an excellent starting point: Front 5000 wt diff silicone 40wt Associated shock oil, blue springs, stock pistons -2 camber +1 toe out Middle hole ackerman plate Middle hole upper arm hinge-pin plate (roll center) Middle hole on shock tower Center 7000 diff oil stock spur gear Rear 2000 diff oil 35wt Associated shock oil, blue springs, stock pistons -3 camber -3 toe-in plate Short wheelbase (all spacers to back) Middle hole on shock tower Inside middle camber link hole on tower Outer camber link hole on rear hub Proline Crimefighters Tires Nova P5 engine, OD99 plug, OD 30% fuel Stock clutch, 1.0 springs (stock) That will get you going with a great starting point, enjoy. |
Stephen,
Thanks alot Brady |
TTR S3 Set Up
Ok...well, I see the TTR didn't fare well in the shootout...kinda disappointing seeing as I already have one. All in all, mine runs very well and has been very durable all season long. I would like to know your set up though...just for gits n shiggles...thx XRC :)
|
Finding the right set up with that TTR is the difference between a piece of garbage and a great car. Something as small as tightening your sway bar 1mm makes a huge handling difference.
I'll try and find the base line set up's that we've been using in our area with great luck. |
