it was not rc CARS that got me into this hobby. it was robot wars.

me and my friends used to fight with rc's since we could not make an all steel robot. I think my first one was tyco but i can not be sure. i chucked out the car because it broke but i never chucked out the remote and i dont know why. what brand is this car/remote.

Taiyo Edge... Well, Taiyo and Tyco were sister companies, I think it's probably similar to the Tyco Mutator if its a truck or the Tyco Typhoon if it was a hovercraft.

I was a nikko guy. Had a couple before I saw the good stuff, lol.

I almost remember my first RC car.
I just cannot remember the name but it was a Nikko & it was a huge truck & it had 4 big plastic wheels & you could raise it or lower it & man did that thing go, then I ran it on a wet road and it fried.
The coolest part was when it raised it all the way up (it raised itself by shifting the wheels inward) it would do 360s like crazy!
If someone could tell me what truck this is it would make my day because I loved that thing!

the lobo II with 7.2 nicad was the first. You could only steer the car when you were on the throttle lol. Yep turbo hopper was my second car. Always wanted a bandit back then. rc10 CE with the wiper style speed control was the first hobby grade. Great memories. thank you for posting the vid despite what others might say or think about your posting here. Hmm looking at the vid, was tyco the first on the desert truck/short course bandwagon??

This is the best image I can get of it.
I'm sure it was a Nikko
Edit:
I found it!
The Original Nikko Hercules by the looks of it.

Tyco Bandit..... Ah yes the good ol days. Yes the Tyco Bandit was my first RC car back in the late 80's and I was an adult when I got one for x-mas. It got me hooked on RC and I then found a real hobby shop (Ace hardware hobbies, Millbrae, CA....man I spent a lot of money there, lol). And now still playing with toy cars....(ok yes hobby grade)...

Lobo 2 is what got me hooked on the hobby. Had a lot of fun with a nikko big bubba also. The toy cars back then were way better then what kids get stuck with today from the big box stores. It's to bad the quality has gone down hill so much. Not saying they were that great back then, but they are a lot better then what you get now.

I liked the hovercraft. And turbo hopper. I just checked eBay that stuff had some good value. Still but now I feel really old

First was a Sears Lobo 2wd buggy, drove it till the front wheels literally fell off because the plastic bushings wore out.
Second was a Radio Shack Golden Arrow 2wd buggy, thought I had it the big time, because it took a real battery pack instead of AA's and had a 540 motor!
First hobby grade was a Tamiya Nissan King Cab, raced it for a couple of years, had a blast!

My first one was a Nikko too....loved that car. I always wanted that tracked tyco and the tyco hovercraft too! I got my cousin's hand me down lobo II that I custom painted with a rattle can job and absolutely beat that car after he got into hobby grade. he is the same guy that got me into hobby grade at my older age too...now there is no looking back. my 9 year old son loves his hobby grade stuff especially since his sisters are hard on his stuff. last time he drove his crawler was mashed by his sister on a bike...shock oil everywhere but he is hooked too!
