Default keeping threads from stripping

and no, i dont mean out of plastic. basically i got some 5-40 nuts for the front alum axles on my rc10gt to replace the nylon jobbers that tend to strip easy. mind you i dont mind paying a couple bucks for a bag of them, but its annoying.

the problem is, regular nuts or lock nuts strip the threads VERY easy i already need a new set and the old ones are only a month or so old. does anyone make axles out of somthing harder, or is there a way to keep from stripping the aluminum ones?
