I agree ...

So basically what they did is a battery box and a motor mount ... glad I didn't wait for this one and went with a HB Ve8. I expected more from Xray, this sucks. nothing new here ... just a converted 808 ..

I can't understand what guys are so negative about. Never heard about the KISS principle. The layout they went for is well known and race tested over the last few years.

An additional benefit is that almost vital parts are identical with the nitro 808 (but I hope it has a E-specific chassis without unnecessary holes).

I guess the conversion parts will be available soon giving nitro owners no excuse converting to clean power.........!!

I am not selling my two converted 808's but I might consider the new battery mount as it seems to be integrated with the mudguard (places the battery as low as possible).

glad to see more e kits coming out from factory. maybe this will get electric racing bigger. but for xrays rep i think elite could make a better looking conversion.

Very disappointed. Given Xrays rep for quality this conversion is really half assed. I expected more from Xray. The mount doesn't even look like "spring steel/hudy". Hopefully, this is just a prototype and it will be refined.

I am just going to stick with my Elite mount and RCM battery tray. Bolts on directly and way better quality. I do like the receiver box, so maybe I will pick that up and I wonder if the chassis is solid or if it is the standard nitro chassis.

I dunno, I just expect more from the manufacturers. I believe in KISS, but most of the companies have essentially just ripped off rc-monster and rcpd's designs from years ago.

Funny thing is, the most innovative stuff has come from the lower end manufacturers. Ofna (Hyper 9 layout is the best I have seen thus far) and HPI with the ve8. I just wish we could get the Mugen/Xray quality with the Ofna/HPI layouts.

Well I have been waiting the E808 and now I see no reason to switch from my current RC-Monster 808 converted. I am with most everyone else and hoping that the E808 would at least have a better layout for everything. Just saved me a bunch of money though!!

I was afraid it would be just another conversion, very disappointing to see it's true. I expected more from such a company as Xray.

Not worried though, i've been running my RC-Monster 808 for a year and have a new chasis on the works, now i know i won't regret it when the Xray kit hit the market

I talked to one of the Xray pro's in my area an he said that they were coming out with a 808E and that the rear drive shaft will be really short and the motor was going to face the rear of the car and you would have a really long front drive shaft. If this is true then I think Xray just put this out there for now and will release the new version later. Don't hold me to this I was told by a highly sponsored racer.

I will stand corrected regarding my initial positive thoughts about the battery tray on the coming 808E. From the pictures I thought the tray was integrated into the side guard. Looking closer, it is clear to me that it is a separate item sitting quite high above the chassis. Not optimal. Lets hope they realize this before going into production. At the same time the tray should have higher side walls and be sized to fit the most popular 4-6s soft case lipos in use.
