There is supposed to be an outdoor nitro track opening in santa ana (www.hotboxrc.com). although i guess he's having trouble with the city and permits...etc. ocrc is very nice and well maintained. outdoor on-road and indoor carpet in orange (bending corners raceway). cool track at Tustin Blvd. and Meats (behind Orange Mall).

You forgot one, or perhaps you don't consider Tamiya "great". The Aliso Viejo track is still open to Tamiya cars for practice every Saturday.

Localy 1/8th was much cheaper to run then 1/10th electric. When companies started to push high end battery packs & you had to invest $500 into batteries, brushes, & motors things got very expensive. Especially when you consider the average driver went through a spare part & a set of tires every race day. It easily turns that $500 setup into a $1500 a year investment. Nitros never break & a two race day old pair of M2 crime fighters on a wet track still look brand new. A gallon of fuel & fluids would last most people a month so that $800 nitro setup only needed about $400 in items to make it through a year. Not to mention you get lots more track time. Now that LI//BL systems are showing up people can save alot of money.
$100 for a season of batteries, $200 for a motor & esc that will last you two years, and more durable 1/10th plat forms.
