Default Budget Redcat Wendigo

I recently bought a Redcat Wendigo slider off of Ebay. It's the RTR version, so it didn't come with the steel axle tube reinforcement inserts. Fortunately, you can buy those separately for only a few bucks. They slide in through the axle ends and are pretty easy to install. I used electronics that I already had on hand. I had to make up a body post support out of aluminum angle bar along with a Proline 2wd Slash body mount in order to get the height I wanted for the FJ body.

I'm impressed with this model so far, I plan on painting the body soon.

My cheap, plastic-geared Solar servo broke. I knew it wouldn't last long on this model considering the weight and steering geometry. I'm looking to get a decent metal geared servo. There are several on Amazon that look pretty good. I know they can't compete with high end servos but I don't want to spend more than around $30. I've watched some reviews on Youtube and the consensus seems to indicate that they tend to be overrated power-wise but adequate. Any thoughts?

Im no expert on these but looks like the drag link in the front end is riding really low... maybe the right /left hubs need swapped around .. get the drag link higher. Good luck!

It does seem a bit low. This is the RTR version so it came like this. I'll have to take a closer look at it to see what can be done.

I wanted better throttle control for my Wendigo so I installed an inexpensive sensored brushless system. The ESC is a Quicrun 10BL120 and the motor is a 13.5t Hobbystar I found on Amazon. It made a huge difference.
