I'm sure a center spool could be used, but every car, no matter what brand, that I have run a lock out on has handled better and turned faster laps with a slipper. The illusion of speed comes from the quicker spool up but in reality you can drive a slipper car harder because you can brake or throttle on landing of jumps with less chances of getting out of shape.

Like any buggy, it all comes down to set up, the lap times are the same as the AE, Kyosho and Yokomo as long the car is set up for the track layout, motor and surface conditions
I sold my AE 2wd Buggy once I found that I could produce the same lap times with the conversion kit, now I only have Tekno spare parts in my pit bad, I kept it just in case the conversion kit had limitations, lucky for me we got it right 👍

The one test sessions done on indoor carpet the Buggy was a weapon that’s for sure, tuning the car for dirt is a personal preference to what you like driving style wise, with 5 different drivers during testing we like things a little different in how it handled for each of our driving requirements

Interesting, but 1 issue. It should be a 2wd Stadium Truck or 2wd Shortcourse!
