Also I tried to capture quite a few pics of the adults with their kids at the track because I feel the club has a better chance of growing if we do get more families involved or show this is not just a club for cranky old guys . It does make the club seem much less intimidating.
Adam - the lens I wish I would own for these kind of shots is a 70-200 f/2.8. But that is a $2000, 4lb chunk of glass.
The AF on the 7D is amazing, and the lighting in the track is good enough for it to do its thing. But there seems to be some contrast issues with it locking on a car vs the white boards with black stripes(tire marks). Or maybe its the grey carpet that throws it off a bit. More testing is required

One last post before I go back to work...
Pits: I know there is talk about expanding the pit areas to get more seating for our race. The wall where we hang the score sheets on... is that structural or have structural beams in it? or could it be removed to give us the ability to put 2 or 3 more pit rows in that area? (if we blocked off that door to the alley and just used the door in the hallway for alley access instead you could easily fit 3 rows of pits in that space.)
Is the office able to be better utilized to store actual track maintenance stuff and not boxes of peoples random R/C cars? (if we took that wall down by the pits we'd need somewhere to put some of the stuff that's on that wall or stored in that area).

That section of the wall goes up through the ceiling, but I'm not sure if we ever determined if it's load-bearing. It does have a big heater bolted to it though. Maybe there's another pillar there?
