Thumbs down Jason Longbrake Columbus Ohio HikariRacing2

Jason Longbrake and I made a deal for the Hpi and Lynx package that was on this forum.
We talk on the phone on July 19th and everything sounded good so the next day I mailed him a postal money order. This was July 20th. On August 12th I received the package. It was a full three weeks before I received the merchandise. I wish this was my only complaint, but not when dealing with Jason Longbrake.

I will start with the add that Jason Posted,

HPI Super Nitro TQ at HPI Challenge Ohio '01 ended up 1st, TQ Chicago '02 DNS main, and TQ New York '02 finished 2nd with a 41 second pit stop (oops).
-What you get: The Super w/ graphite upper deck, RRP disc brake, GPM Chassis (2 HPI chassis also), Sway Bar Set, 3 BMW LMP bodies, and spares galore.
-Also Included: Trinity/Picco 15RE, Mugen header, Associated GT Pipe, HPI 15mm motor mounts, HPI 32mm flywheel, MIP Clutch
-And Tires: Sets of HPI 23R's, 10-30's, 33R's, 30-40's and RC4Less foams
-Hitec 545 and 645 Servos and Trinity 1100 Receiver Pack

From his add you would think that I was buying a car that could TQ but all I got was a half ripped apart chassis that is not ready to win anything. Also there were no BMW bodies were included. All the other parts might be in the “Box O Stuff” (pic attached) but some assembly will be required.
Take a look at the pic and you can be the jury on whether you would want to deal with Jason Longbrake of Columbus Ohio

If you take a look at the pics that Jason Longbrake posted on his original add you will see what I thought I was buying.
There was no pics of the super on his add.

I paid $650- shipped for everything.

I think $300- shipped for a multi time Hpi Challenge TQ car was a fair price!

There were no bodies included,or the MIP clutch that was in the add. After a few hour of assembly I found many more missing parts like, Hpi 15Fe pull start, needle bearings, motor mounts, clutch bells, most of the screws and clips.

Like I said before the Lynx and the tires look great. Jim

from the pictures it looks like the plastic on the chassis of the super is all melted. I would never deal with this guy.

Thumbs down

Maverick, So you think I got hosed?

Mugen, Thanks for the pull start offer but I have plenty of spare parts and with the "Box O Parts" I now have plenty of more.
I do make the trip to one of the Bruckners store if my local shop dose not have the part.

Evil, The chassis is graphite and the melt look is just nitro that was never cleaned off before shiiping.

The car is all togther and ready to be broken in.

As a side note, the 2 Hitec servos had the red wire on the outside of the plug.
Was this another speed secret or just the work of Jason Longbrake?

Holly crap. Did you ask for references? If not there in lies your problem. Always ask for references? If they have none then flush the deal unless your selling and you recieve the cash first. Spread his name and address around every board you can and totally destroy his reputation.

Fat, references are not a garentee that you will not get beat.
He could give me some of his friends to vouch for him as sellers and how would I know?
I looked in the Trader Feedback then made a personal telephone call and it all sounded good. There is NO safe way to deal online but I am letting everyone know what my dealings were like with Jason Longbrake In Columbus Ohio.

I will post some pics of what the car looks like now. SWEET

Well there is sort of, you can do it through your local hobby shop, I'm sure they would do the deal if they got a few bucks out of it.

As for references, all the deals I've done (only a few) I've walked away very happy. If they have references that live in different coutries which a few of us do then at least it's a little more secure. If the references are people that are well known traders on this forum then I like to think there repeutable. Yes references are not a garentee but they do give some reassurance.

Maybe I'm just too trusting. I just know someone will screw me over one day.
