2015 Labor Day Challenge @ Clark RC Park
#1

Just a heads up we will be running our Labor Day Challenge program on Monday September 7th. For anyone who missed the Summer Showdown here's your chance to race at the Park before the year is over! I know this is a bit of a strange format but if you have ever been out to Clark RC Park then you know its all for fun. This is a race made specifically to remember how this hobby is supposed to be fun, its the reason we all started and its something we here at Clark try to never forget. Its FUN! So lets enjoy a great race day with great people and keep it fun for everybody. Yeah I copied that from last year, deal with it.
Here is the schedule for the week. We will be open tomorrow (Thursday) for practice from 2:00 until 8:00. We will open for practice again on Sunday at 5:00, camping Sunday is welcome. Monday we will open at 7:30 and practice from 8:00 until 9:30. Drivers meeting at 9:45 and racing starts at 10:00. Now for the format!!! We will have one 7 minute round of qualifying using the best 3 consecutive laps for main seeding. We will then run triple mains for everyone 7 minutes long with bumps in the first main. The mains are short to get done at a reasonable time and that is the way we used to race, nobody to pit for us and honestly we didn't have a pit lane when we started.
We will also be hold 2 pit crew challenges. For the Nitro version we will warm up the vehicles and shut them down. At the start of the race the pit man will have to fire the vehicle, the driver makes a lap, comes in the pits for fuel and completes another lap. On the electric side, land rush start, come in the pits, change 2 tires and complete another lap. We will have trophies for the driver and pit man in each class.
At the end of the day we will hold our "Grand Champion" no marshal race. This should be a fun one!
Of course if the weather is a factor we will post here.
Classes:
1/8 scale Truggy
1/8 scale Buggy
Open 2WD Short Course Truck
Open 4x4 Short Course Truck
We are combining the electric and nitro 1/8 scale classes to honor how we used to run things being a small track... and because we can. ^^
Entry Fee
First Class will be $20
Additional Classes will be $10 per class
Awards
Image Intense will be providing trophies for this event for the top 10 in Buggy and the top 5 in all other classes. We will also be giving out awards for 2 separate pit challenges for both driver and mechanic. (details on those challenges coming soon!) We will also have a Grand Champion trophy for the end of the day...
Grand Champion Race
We have traditionally held a Grand Champion race at the end of the Labor Day Challenge and it goes like this. To Qualify for the race you must have won at the Summer Showdown in either the Nitro Buggy, Electric Buggy or Nitro Truggy class this year or the previous year. Or you can qualify by winning either the Buggy or Truggy class at the Labor Day Challenge this year or the previous year. Also allowed in is the Grand Champion from last years race. The race format is simple and pays tribute to the grass roots Clark RC Park came from... 10 lap sprint... no marshalls... no timing system. You must call out your lap as you cross the start/finish line. Last man standing gets the big trophy!
