Default MARCCA Board Report / Track Update

Hi all,

On Sunday, we had a MARCCA board meeting with not only full attendance but some members as well. It was a productive meeting, everybody got along, and I think we're all on the same page as far as where to go from here.

I will have the minutes of the meeting added to this post in a bit. We mainly went over the offroad situation, as far as our plans to try and stick with the Black Bear next year or move to DeForest (where the current temporary track is). We'll let everybody know when we know more about the situation with the town of Cottage Grove.

Other than that, most of what else we went over was clerical, as well as plans to fix up (and clean up) the MARCCA trailer and get it ready for the next outdoor season.

We closed the meeting by going out to one of the possible locations for our indoor track, in a strip-mall a block or so north of Farm & Fleet on Stoughton Road (Highway 51). We didn't have a key so a few of us went back this afternoon to have a look at the place.

I am happy to report that the building met or exceeded our needs in almost every area, including (most importantly) cost and size. Right now we are going ahead with the deal, keys are being made for the board members, and plans are to begin moving in on the 2nd of November and racing within a week or two of that.

What that means is that we will havea work party tentatively scheduled for the morning of November 2nd to begin moving in. Please, clear out your calendars in advance, as we would appreciate as much help as possible in moving in. The faster we get our stuff in the building, the sooner we can begin racing.

We should be able to build a track that is about 70 ' x 42' which is bigger than we had last season. There is a single skinny pole in there, but I don't think it will make a difference at all (it's smaller than the ones at Scotty's). There is some trackside pit area as well as a few smaller rooms with windows that overlook the track area. All in all, I think we will have a great time at this place, and the board was unanimous in approving the building.

I think that covers just about everything. If anybody has any Qs we can try and answer them.

As George posted, as it stands right now the schedule will remain the same as last year, looking something like:

Tuesday Nights / Sedan racing
Thursday Nights / Truck racing
Saturday Nights / Truck racing
Sunday Nights / Sedan racing

Pending approval of the board, I would like to start a Friday night sedan program to be run on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month, and we are also considering opening the building up for practice on as many weeknights as we can.

It looks like this will be another great winter for MARCCA. Big thanks go to Charlie for finding the building!

Quick update: the building is indeed ours, and we can begin moving in in November.

The first work party WILL BE on the morning of Saturday, November 2nd. I'll post more details on this when we have the times worked out. It is likely that we will need your help on Sunday as well, if you can make it.

If all goes well, the first racing will take place the weekend of November 9th-10th.

Please let your fellow MARCCA racers know; the more help we get moving in, the sooner we can race!

Awesome.

Until then guys, head down to Scotty's ! Tues night was AWESOME! Good crowd and great racin'!

Lots of guys running and a couple that I hadn't seen for 9 years !! (back when we ran oval up at Wisc. Rapids) -- the one and only Russ Schacht was there and so was Mr. Mike Steineke !

Had a blast !

Get those 1/12 scale cars dusted off and bring 'em down on Sunday !!!!!!!

Seeeeeeeeeeee ya!

Yeah, I've rubbed fenders with him a couple times. We ended up in the same main quite a few times over the summer, had a couple pretty good races between us. I havent seen him since the last tuesday i made it up there though.

If the club needs ANY computer equipment for the new building (or any computer help) let me know.

I manage the IT operations for our 3 U.S. offices and we are constantly upgrading computer equipment and frequently have "some to spare".

The club can have it for FREE -- just let me know what we need!!

More monitors ? laser or ink jet printers ?? whatever !

Jeff.
