Exclamation United Sportscar R/C Racing Championship 11-9-14 "The Track" @ Harbor Hobbies

United Sportscar R/C Racing Championship 11-9-14 "The Track" @ Harbor Hobbies-fbcover.jpg

Three Classes. One Goal.

The United Sportscar R/C Racing Championship is the first R/C racing event of its kind that will pit three different classes of cars all against each other at the same time!

The event will take place November 9, 2014 at
The Track at Harbor Hobbies
1225 Sheridan Rd.
Winthrop Harbor, IL 60096

The premise is simple. The event will begin like an ordinary R/C race. Each class will compete in two rounds of qualifying and one main. After all three classes have completed they're respected mains, the top four drivers from each classes A & B Mains that have shown they have the patience and skill to continue, will compete in one of two finale races called the "Harbor Grand Prix". The "A" Main Grand Prix will be 12 minutes long, the "B" Main will be 10 minutes. Racers will be competing for awards in they're individual class, as well as a single overall winner for the Grand Prix.

This event will introduce a fun twist on a popular touring car class. Prototypes! This class utilizes the same rules used in traditional Stock 17.5 Touring Car classes, the only change being the use of McAllister Daytona Prototype bodies instead of the typical touring car bodies!

The three classes competing were picked not only because they mimic the look and feel of real multi-class endurance series like IMSA or Le Mans, but they're typical lap times are fairly similar on the carpet track! This should make for close, competitive racing across the board!

Default oh my

bodies that look like race cars!
classes where everyone can run together!

Hmmmm... would seem to be real good idea for local tracks!
Great for attracting new people into the hobby!

This seems like the schnizzle.....or someone is thinking ahead here!

Now to get a body painted .... corvette on a TC can't wait...wait.. I assssssume someone checked that these bodies would fit TC chassis with tall
shock towers.... kinda looks like some bumps/rises to accommodate.

downside:
vta may suffer a bit

Hello drsfly

Thanks for your interest in our event! We choose to go with McAllister Racing Daytona Prototypes because they were designed to be pretty universal as far as chassis are concerned. They work with most 4wd touring cars. We did a little bit of research before hand around R/C Tech and other R/C related sites and found the general consensus to be very positive!

Also, we are in no way trying to draw people away from other existing classes or events. I personally am a HUGE fan of VTA racing, my first "professional" R/C race was the very first USVTA Scales Nationals, so VTA has always been pretty special to me. In fact, when I originally had the concept for this event, it was supposed to be a USGT version of the USVTA Scale Nationals that runs at "The Track" @ Harbor Hobbies. But just creating another traditional R/C race seemed too "cookie cutter" to me. For D.M.P's first event, I wanted to create something fun, simple, yet extremely unique.

My race/event planning organization Damore Motorsport Productions is brand spankin' new, and would love to help plan new exciting title events that will include VTA and other popular classes like Mod Touring Car and Mini. As of right now, the next BIG event/series we will be putting together will be the 2015 Asphalt Assault Series revamp. That will defiantly include VTA and other popular classes. But thats for another thread...lol

who said this is going to split out TC classes anymore?? to me, this sounds more like a special event - kinda like UF1 - not something to be run on a weekly basis that would effect normal classes

I think its an awesome idea - if run in the proper moderation

Hey everyone! The race format will include two qualifier races, and one traditional main for each class. The top four finishers from each classes A & B main races will move on to either an A or B main Grand Prix. So each Grand Prix will feature twelve cars, the same size as full main race at Winthrop. We initially wanted to include more cars from each class, but we did't want to crowd the drivers stand too much.

Hey dds6695, Spec17.5 GT looks like a lot of fun! Love the concept!
