Default The 2013 Labor Day Challenge @ Clark RC Park

Just a heads up we will be running our Labor Day Challenge program on Monday September 2nd. For anyone who missed the Summer Showdown here's your chance to race at the Park before the year is over! I know this is a bit of a strange format but if you have ever been out to Clark RC Park then you know its all for fun. This is a race made specifically to remember how this hobby is supposed to be fun, its the reason we all started and its something we here at Clark try to never forget. Its FUN! So lets enjoy a great race day with great people and keep it fun for everybody.

Classes:
1/8 scale Truggy
1/8 scale Buggy
Open 2WD Short Course Truck
Open 4x4 Short Course Truck

We are combining the electric and nitro 1/8 scale classes to honor how we used to run things being a small track... and because we can. ^^ 1/8 Electrics will have to come in for a 5 second pit stop in the A Mains.

We will be running a 2 rounds of qualifying and using a rocket round format. Your fastest heat will determine you starting postion.

Mains for 1/8 scale will be:
A Main - 12 minutes
B Main - 8 minutes
C and lower Mains - 6 minutes

Mains for Short Course Trucks will be:
A Main - 10 minutes
B Main - 8 minutes
C and lower Mains - 6 minutes

Entry Fee
First Class will be $15
Additional Classes will be $5 per class

Awards
We will be getting trophies for this event for the A Main top 5 in 1/8 scale and top 3 in short course classes. We will also have a Grand Champion trophy for the end of the day...

Grand Champion Race
We have traditionally held a Grand Champion race at the end of the Labor Day Challenge and it goes like this. To Qualify for the race you must have won at the Summer Showdown in either the Expert Buggy, Electric Buggy, Expert Truggy or Electric Truggy class this year or the previous year. Or you can qualify by winning either the Buggy or Truggy class at the Labor Day Challenge this year or the previous year. Also allowed in is the Grand Champion from last years race. The race format is simple and pays tribute to the grass roots Clark RC Park came from... 10 lap sprint... no marshalls... no timing system. You must call out your lap as you cross the start/finish line. Last man standing gets the big trophy!

Hey guys! It will be my first time at Clark this weekend, looking forward to it. I will also have my GT2 on hand if anyone is feeling a little nostalgic.

You'll be very pleased with the track and the crew. The racers there are some of the friendliest around.

Tim, I would love to be there for this event, but the holiday involves family.
I WILL BE EATING ICE CREAM THO !!!!

How long a day does this one usually turn out to be? On one hand, it looks like the race times are a little shorter (no very long nitro mains, etc.), on the other hand, turnout could be really big. Trying to decide if I should "ask the boss"..

To be honest that is a good question. If I had to guess I would hope to be done by 6:30 or so. As you know it really depends on the number of entries. It will also go faster because we are only running 4 classes- 1/8 buggy, 1/8 truggy, 2wd open sct and 4wd open sct. We want to be done early enough to have time for people to get home because most of us have to work Tuesday morning.

We changed it up a little, nothing major. On the right side instead of a 180 from the top lane we brought it all the way down the right side and back up. The other change is you now have to jump to the tabletop instead of a kick up.

Just to remind everyone ,Practice today from noon until ?. The Labor Day Challenge tomorrow- track opens at 7 and racing starts at 10:00!

whoops.... I ordered top 5 awards for all classes! (the info says top 5 for buggy/truggy and top 3 for sct) Make sure if you have a short bus to bring it out! Otherwise I might get a trophy!

We'll.. it started raining fairly heavily down here in the flat lands. I have to leave around 5:00am to get there when the doors open. If the race has been rained out, will it be posted before then? Could save myself, and quite a few others, a lot of hassle.

Thanks to Tim and the Clark RC park crew for a really fun day of racing!

I had to run out of there as soon as my main finished, is it possible to get results/main sheets posted here or on Clark RC's website?
