Default New to R/C Racing

I am new and looking to get into the sport/hobby. I am still going back and forth if I want to do oval or road racing. Looking for some good places to race and some good people to give a hand to a new racer.

Thanks

I live in the western suburbs of Chicago but willing to travel a bit to race. Looking to get a good basic startup and help from someone.

I'd go check out some local tracks and see what seems more enjoyable to you as oval and offroad are pretty much opposite ends of the spectrum! (though people, myself included, have been known to do both!).

Good luck!

Great place. They were just featured today on WGN TV's "Around Town" segment.

That's the great thing about this hobby. 99% of the time anyone will help you with whatever you need. Just ask. Locate the tracks in your area and visit them on their regular race night. Welcome the the sport. And remember just to have fun.

I race both oval and offroad I live in plainfield monee is about 40 min away and leisure hours is about 30 min away both great places. totally different racing monee is oval leisure hours on and off road. monee u can buy the car they race there for about 180 roller plus nitro motor witch is around 130 for the limited class plus radio witch is maybe around 150 and ur good to go. now when you become better there is an outlaw class and motor could be about 300 but youll want to start in the limited class. everyone is nice there and will help you get a setup I just started racing there last year and nothing but good thing from the people there you should come out and check it out sometime we don't race again till late aug.

As for leisure hours great place great people just wish they had an oval so I could race everything at one place. You are most likely looking to be paying the same amount for car to start out with as monee but once again when you get better you will end up spending more just like monee.

so end result go to both places see what you think you like to do more and go with it or be like me and do both

Thanks for the info Nolimit. I have been to Monee before but that was about 3-4 years ago.

Let me know when you go next and maybe I can meet up with you.
