Possible New Track in Kewanee Illinois

I am considering a new track and shop in Kewanee, IL and am looking for honest feedback.
The facility would be called Kewanee RC Factory as it would be in a old factory.
My ultimate goal would be to have 3 tracks inside at some point one offroad for 1/8 scalers and one offroad for tenth scale and sc and one dirt oval.
However if it happens it would probably start as just one offroad so as to have minimal startup costs.
We would eventually have a fully stocked on site hobby shop as well.
So here is my questions.
1. What size should the track be, I have a area 165 feet by 170 feet by 16 feet ceiling height. Dont want it to big and dont want it to small.
2. How does everyone feel on the temperature requirements for the track area during nitro classes with ventilation fans running.
3. What type of soil content for the track.
4. What days for racing.
5. Would you be able to travel to Kewanee for racing and how often.

Honest answers would be greatly appreciated, I realize things change but Im checking to see who would travel here to run as we don't have much local support at this time.
I understand you wouldn't come back if it wasn't a good time but I intend to make sure it is!
Thanks for any support you may be able to offer.

You know I will be there every week to race and pick up all parts, fuel, and just the latest and greatest new things. As far as a track size I'm thinking I'll leave that up to the pro drivers, but I can say I love Saturday races and maybe a week day race/practice too. I also like the idea of a membership. Like $50 a month race and practice all you want or something like that. And again if you need any help please let us know. We work hard and we work harder for people we like!!!!

Please post if you are willing to make this track work.

fatam I agree...whats sad is people complaine about not having a local indoor track because newberrys closed, but we also lost another great indoor AND outdoor track in waterloo because people would NEVER travel...it takes more then the "locals" to keep a track going!! all I have to say is Chucks facility would put some of the nicest tracks to shame and its sad that hes not receiving more support at least on this thread I have no clue what his pm's consist of....

Thanks for the kind words guys. Honest feedback is what I'm after here. Good idea or bad. Let me know. Trust me I would rather know now.
I must sa that the closest indoor track I know of is 93 miles away and defenitely wouldn't wish any ill effects for their program as there great people. I believe I will meet with them and any other track operators within a couple hours from here as I'm not looking to cause any problems.

For your soil content....ask Scotty at S&N Trackside what he uses for dirt in his track.

I`d make the trip maybe 1-2 times a month for some electric racing . Also be available to help out building the track and whatever needed to get going .

I have already told ya I would come along with 3-4 others from the Princeton Area.......Build it they will come, what else do we have without driving a distance. I would definitly like to see some indoor racing this winter especially nitro

I would come to race if it was on saturdays. For temps it doesn't have to be super warm. Some type of heater over the drivers stand would be good. I can vouch for chuck as well he is a stand up guy. Hope it pans out.

Bump we need more feed back

Sunday would be best, followed by Saturday night (would make it nearly every week). If racing were Saturday during the day I would probably only make it once a month.

I don't know what the actual temps were at Newberry's but I wouldn't want it too much colder or smokier than that.

Once again, I'm not sure what size Newberry's was, but as long as your track is as big, that would be great. It was perfect for 1/10 and just big enough for 1/8.

Good Luck,
Dave
