How about Lombard Hobbies, they used to host racing behind the DMV at Eastgate Shopping Center, in the late 80's.

Aren't you a little biased though? That's where I got my start racing a jrx-t. I still have the truck and all of the plaques. I remember when when they took out the carpet track to make the dirt track bigger like Trackside just did. Funny how this hobby goes in cycles.

I remember seeing a storm oval series race at Machesney Park back then. It was really cool seeing the drivers standing down by pit lane during the race so they could do battery change pit stops to make the race distance. Imagine how long the race could be with today's batteries and pit spots.

How about the NIRROC track in the Mundelein Park District off of Rte 45 where they used to pump water from the creek to water the track.

That and Lake Zurich post office and Arlington Hobbies track off of Kirchoff Rd. not to mention Motorplex in Lily Lake.

Just a few I can think of from the area.
Any wisconsin guys remember the dirt oval behind "The Train Stop" or racing indoors on the millfelt at High Roller?? If you're younger than say 30-33 your not gonna remember. I remember guys coming up form Milwaukee to run our "Dirt Oval Shootout" every year back in the early 90's.

I've been following this thread for sometime and now that the Storm Oval Series was mentioned, I remember racing one round of it when it was at the Grayslake County Fairgrounds. I thought it was fun, but it was rough at the same time, cause I didn't have foam tires for the concrete with my FT TC3.

A track in Lily Lake? I use to go to Plato Center grade school and later on Central High School in Burlington. When did the Lily Lake track exist?

ChiMiniRC
The track was actually in Lakemoor. It is between VOLO and McHenry.
It had an outside asphault oval that was 270' around with lights for night raqcing and outside pits for over 100 people. There was an offroad track in the oval infield, and a indoor offroad track in the main building.
I was the origonal builder/manager of the whole place.
It was THE place to race in the late 80's. We averaged 150 racers on Sunday's in the winter and 50-60 racers on Wednesday offroad and Friday night oval. We also had one of the area's first AMB scoring systems.

I raced at the fairgrounds too, even with foam tires it was rough! It was pretty cool racing in front of spectators.
