So I did some digging for black ozite...

Spectropile Ozite Marine Carpet 72'' - sbfabrics.com So that's $0.74 cents a square foot... that's 3700 for carpet assuming 50x100 track. Hah. There's cheaper options. All the way down to used carpet from the local

Or... 45 cents a square foot for grey loop carpet? https://www.menards.com/main/floorin...1131696&ipos=2

Hmmpf.

If you are renting a space for racing storage of the carpet could be a problem. Storing carpet off site and moving long rolls is a lot of work. You may want to rent a facility, such as fairgrounds buildings, with cement or asphalt floors.

i like fire hose, you can create very cool corners and its easy on the cars. Eric's asphalt layouts using firehouse were really cool. No reason you can't do the same thing on carpet.

Expect a PM or two. Are you on the Facebook group?

IT sounds like you're game for helping get this off the ground?

(You sold me my first Mini, and put up with me driving my Mini-Z up at harbor a time or two.. Amusingly, the LiPo battery i bought from you, only just died a year ago.)

I'm fishing from the bottom up to see if a club structure would work at this level. From where I am located, there is still vacant land where I can build a 100x100 "Club house". The 2 Acre lot would support a parking lot. The building itself is a kit. It would be insulated and be heated via in floor radiant heat with some forced air assistance for winter and AC and infloor cooling for summer. This could all be ready by October for indoor season if people just believed it's possible. The outlook is only 2.5k per month cost. We should be able to make that up in different levels of membership and donation. I'd also like a popular cars parts store on site. More on that in the MARCCA thread. Please feel free to comment on our progress there.

Highway 73 just south of town. And just north of 12 and 18.

Curious what you guys think would be the ideal Chicagoland location, and think beyond next to my house. To me it would be somewhere around where 290 and 294 meet. This would allow access for large population from many directions. And needs to be close to an off ramp. And to be clear in the not self serving vein this would be about 45 minutes for me assuming decent traffic.

Ideal to me is something sustainable. We all want the place close to us but it's got to be able to stay open and that means it's got to be somewhere that has lower rent than most the area you pointed out.

Thanks for the compliment Mark, unfortunately work wipes me out pretty good so I have to do a fair bit of planning to be able to play with toy cars now.
