Whats up with the flat grey carpet? Just to keep wear down with the off road tires?

Default grey carpet

I wonder how much work it would be to pull up the grey carpet and the ramps every hour or so and let the on - road guys have some fun?

The grey carpet pieces would be fairly easy to roll up. The ramps not so much.

If I can try buggys.....

To protect the carpet when people lawn dart their cars, lol. Mid corner probably to keep the pins from loosening the fibers so much.

The gray carpet is only to protect the expensive CRC black carpet. You will not want to run your on road car right after the gray carpet comes up. Plus they have to vacuum the black carpet before you can put a on road car down. And then it will take some time to get a little grove in the rug for traction. So too much to do to try switching that often...

We have a set schedule. The effort is too much to switch between on and off road on the same night of practice. The only day we do this is Saturday's when we run the Points Series and Club Racing. Even then it's on-road until 2PM and then we switch over to off-road.

It for the landing ares off jumps (cars improperly setup and bottoming out) and for high speed corners where the tires have a possibility to break loose. It's all about preserving the expensive black carpet. The folks at Amain run the grey carpet as their only surface for off-road.

Having seen what the carpet looked like at WC, it makes perfect sense. Worked fine for me Sunday.

Question. Same layout this weekend race? Having suprised myself Sunday, I’m considering trying.

Yes, Sean said he will keep layout. He will change the track every 2 weeks. Thanks
