As for your question,
I really do not know. I have limited knowledge of mechanics.
I think it depends on the weight of the car.
The strength of the motor depends on the diameter of the cylinder and the pressure of the steam.
My engine has two cylinders. Diameter 20mm. The boiler produces steam at 1.5 kg / cm square. It could withstand double the pressure without problem. Pressure tests were performed at 13 kg. Per cm. square.
The approximate force per cylinder = 3 kg.
I'm sorry I can not help you better. If you send me the links of the engines I see them and I tell you that I think.
Thanks for the info. This is the motor i was looking at http://m.ebay.com/itm/Creative-Steam...%257Ciid%253A2 it really cheap but i really can't tell the difference between that and a 500 dollar one
i always thought steam engine where cool but i am no expert in them.

I saw the engine. It is very good and could serve.
The bad thing is the boiler. It produces steam at very low pressure and provides little power to the engine.

Wow, simply incredible! Next level stuff John. Must be a lot of man hours and maybe trial and error gone into this build. Best thing I've seen in a long time.
