thats a mechanical speed controller
im going to ask a dumb question but does your truck have a receiver pack in it? cause a mechanical speed control wont power the electrics without a receiver pack

It has a 2-channel 27mhz receiver unit with "2015" labeled on top with three plugs in it.

I managed to fix it! I poked around the Msc with my finger and that freed it up from it being stuck on full throttle, works really well now. If it happens again I'll look into upgrading it to an Esc.

ok no where in any of your posts you say throttle was stuck on full forward you only said it went into reverse then would fail. glad you got things worked out
