Default Tamiya pics from 1984

Here are some pics of my first car, a Grasshopper followed by a Frog. My dad liked it and bought one for himself. His is he orange one. We ended up with a pretty active club and had a ton of fun racing.

check out the socks, so cool I'd do anything to be a kid again and go back to the cool fun days of racing, not the current setup challenge and who's got the biggest wallet of today.

When I was young, my father also gave me a car like that. Back then it was a fortune for me.
Later when I got married, I also bought my son one of them.
Although it is impossible to have the same feeling as before, Tamiya America, Inc 1/10 Grasshopper 2WD Off-Road Kit helped me to give fire to my son.
Thanks to Techgara for bringing me this choice.

Those pics are just too cool! Funny but I used the exact same Futaba airplane radios (my dad's) for my first RC cars, a Wild Willy and Hornet. That was a pretty cool track you guys built also.

Great time racing. I recall a similar outdoor track and variety around that time I loved by me. Frogs, foxes, hotshots, then the RC10 came and changed everything. Racing started to go down the what is the fastest way around the track and the variety disappeared to where we are today. Hard to distinguish the cars apart and everyone follows basically the same formula. Of course in hindsight the Frog was not a track beast but we had a blast and knew no better. I get it there is always a fastest way but variety for the sake of variety can be fun too regardless of lap times. Old man rant off.
