The 90s must have been a wonderful era to have a hobby shop most of my favorite RC are from the 90s and early 2000

I personally always thought the 90s was a great time for RC. As for 3d printing, 3d printing will affect almost every sector heck they are even making working 3d printed rocket engine I did several 3d printed cars myself but mainly for the chassis and checking out if I like the design, when it all done I just get the parts CNC and use bulkhead and other things that don't need to be custom from other companies.
