Default What to do with a XXXT?

I have two XXX trucks in my inventory right now. One is a true MF2 I got new and the first truck I paid for with my own hard earned money and Track Race Bucks. So I'm not selling that or changing it. The other came as a hand me down from my bother who got his from a friend of ours. That one is more of a put together from parts or much older truck. Now it's been a few weeks since I've looked at them but I know one has a VLA on one side and a normal arm on the other in the front. When I went looking for the right graphite arms all could find was used or for more then I care to spend. But, Hobby Town had some EA3 VLA for the SC XXX. I ordered two sets thinking they where the same size. Umm, no.

So, now I have two sets of slightly shorter front arms and two sets of VLA hubs. Parts are hard to find so there not going back but I should use them or whats the point of having them.

The point and my options:

1. Get all the rest of the stuff to turn one of the trucks' into a XXXT-SC including the long chassis and big body. I wish that came in EA3. This would give me a race legal SC and make for one less RC just sitting come April.

2. Anyone remember the kit to turn a XX-4 into a "Heavy Metal" truck or rally car? Well, Team Blue Grove offers a repop of that body and a few others that can, I'm sure, be made to fit. That still would use the stock chassis size and probably look pretty cool doing it. I think it would be very fun to play with too. Now I'm not sure how bad the tires would stick out, if at all but, it can't be that bad. Maybe some buggy arms would fix that. At worst I can go with option 1.

Here is a thought that is related, maybe a smaller SC based strictly on a Open wheel ST truck could take off. Something that with a simple swap of tires, adding of bumpers and body mounts you can run whatever is at the track that day with one truck. It needs to be simple. Front bumper uses same 2 or 4 holes and rear bolts up to the bottom of the trans plate or is a motor plate that is changed as a whole. Something along that line. It would be smaller then the current 1/10th SCs But bigger then the 1/16th or 1/18th SC's. From what I can see the industry has thrown away scale sizes anyway. How a 1/10th ST and a 1/10th SC can be the same scale is beyond me.
Just Random thoughts. What do I know.

I like your idea about not being so strict about short course class as it seems to be dying in most places.

My XXX is in the landfill somewhere , I threw it away , It was missing parts I couldn't find .
Having a XXXT SCT kind of put me off the old designs, Its useless for racing .Its going in the can soon.

I still wish I had my XXT's ( I liked the XXT's much better)

First, I'll give you $50 bucks plus shipping if you throw that XXXT-SCT my way instead of away. At least you make something off of it that way. PM me on that.

I understand the frustration of not being able to find parts, trust me. Dumb me as tossed all my old Tycos because of that. I also, sold my YR-4 pro and HPI RS-4 MT. I want them back now that I'm older and wiser. Had I seen 3D printing in my crystal ball I would have held on to them.

On the 3D subject, when I get one I'm going to make the parts to do this to one of my XXTs. I like them better then the XXX line as well. But, if you find one that is short a trans there is a simple way to put a XXX trans in a XX saving the XX as all those parts are still hanging up at LHS. Also, PM for the info if you (anyone) needs to know that.

And, If this takes off when I'm done, make kits for what ever the current stadium truck of the day is at the time.

So here is the update on this seeing as it got bumped to the top.

Right now I'm stalled do to funds however I have it 80% together right now. With some help from someone on the XXX-SC thread I was able to get the size for the rear arms. Turns out they are the same as XXTcr. Sweet, parts I have! I drilled out a hole on the arms to move the shock mounts in to match the front arm mount angles. I'm using those with 1st gen XXX hubs and, a MF2 rear pivot along with the gray case trans for my MF2. All that brings the rear in to where most of the tire should be under the body. In the front I'm using the VLA SCT arm and hubs. These will be put together with XXX buggy carriers and axles as currently planed. The front will end up just a bit wider then the rear but not very much. I also have a set of XX4 hubs and carriers that I may try to just to see. It would make it look more current if I did that as well.

Yes, most parts can be found on ebay or are being made by 3D printers like Mytimac (owner of Sabulatech). He has a ever growing parts line for our old cars and trucks. Losi and AE alike. However, XXX MF/BK2/CR parts do seem to be in short supply these days leading to high prices for the parts and the XXX-SC parts are different. I just do not feel like paying $45 for a used front end just to get arms. So far as I know, there is not anyone making these parts and if they where they would not be as strong as the OE part in the case of something like a A-arm and there in lies to problem.

Just because it is good reading:Something awesome for Team Losi fans

I did? I know someone else did and I was going to sell him the one that is this project. It is a good thing I did not. This truck is a bit to hammered to sell to anyone in good faith.

Me ether. Do not forget pawn shops!

I have BOXES/POUNDS of R/C parts,but mostly for Associated.
Weird stuff that may be vintage.
Free with shipping is good. Pay it forward, please.

Don't we have a FREE section?**************************************
Just pay for shipping,eh?

I may have good stuff that someone can use.
I make a lot of parts,too. RE:
Servo-actuated rear camber linkage for a 2WD truck?
I made one. It's all fun.

A 2-motored brushed RC 10 T-3? I made one.The torque was insane and a lot of fun to drive.(2) 6 cell packs with ONE ESC. An old Tekin Titan ran it fine. HE HE.
I have 3 "shops" in my house, besides my shed.

I would like to have more machine tools besides a grinder and a Dremel.

Post that stuff up in the for sale thread for some cash. There no sense in giving it away. Unless your that had up to get raid of it. I know at least two on this forum that have sent AE stuff to that may want it. Take pictures.

I would be happy with the shed.

If you still have that Tekin and it is ok I will want you to PM me more info on buying that.

My tools are X-acto, hand crank drill and, dremel. I have made more parts than I thought I would have been able to that way.
