Hi. I just purchased one of this engines as my first attempt to tune, and club race it. Now, can I break in this engine with 30% fuel? Is it designed to run 30%? Does it only take the trackstar turbo plugs or can I put O.S. turbo plugs? Any additional information on this engine (SEG .21) will be greatly appreciated. Specially your opinion if you own or owned this engine before. Thanks.

I own this engine and raced with it last season. It's made by Go, the same as their RTR .21 engine. X-Act also sells it through Amain but rebranded under their name. It's a solid engine. Easy to tune. Not the most powerful, but it was always my driving skill that held me back and not the engine. If you want to run 30% I highly recommend adding a shim. When I switched from 20% to 30% I was blowing glow plugs repeatedly until I added a head shim. I can't remember if it was a .3mm one or a .2 mm one but it solved my problems.

Most .21 head shims should work... the ones I used were from Losi.

I too just bought this engine, but it didn't come with a break in procedure, I am also new to nitro, this is my first one. Can anyone give me a basic break in procedure. I know a lil bit about nitro, but not a ton. I will be using 20% fuel, and I do have a temp gun from my electrics. Also using a medium plug, and the fuel is traxxas. Thanks in advance guys! Also I plan on just doing a bench break in on top of the starter box.
