I'm Sorry, but I can't make it out on Sunday. Of all the days in a week I have the 24 Hour driving duty from 9 AM Sunday to 9 am Monday. The next 2 weekends should be clear for me though.
This was a lesson I learned awhile ago and told you aboot it [my lil Mamba Max situation]. I don't feel sorry for you!

Got a lot of work done on the RC park on Sunday. The 1/10 scale track is shaping up really well, should be able to get it ready this coming w/e. The kids track will need some work as it held a lot of water from last weeks rain, we added some dirt but it was too muddy to do much more. The nitro track was tore up pretty bad on the #1 turn so we added a bunch of dirt and packed it down (nice work with the backhoe Robert) and it looks much better. Also added dirt two turns before the table top, still needs racking and packing. We also went over the front straight and tried to smooth it out some, it worked ok and should make it easier to control cars at full throttle. All in all a productive day and we still have a bunch to do this coming w/e.

I'm in if the work will be done in the AM. Wifey gets out of work at 1130 and then it's off to Yomitan to P/U my son's first car.

Default 1/8 BL System

Anyone know a good 1/8 baseline BL motor/ESC combo for around $250 or so? Not looking to set the world on fire and don't care about top end, KV rating, etc. Just a decent setup for the track layout you guys made. Thanks.

Mamba Monster with either the 2200kv or 2650kv motor can be had for around $250 now. The Hobby Wing EZRUN setup for 1/8 is good also, and can be had for around $200, maybe $150 on Ebay.

OK,

Yesterday, after a few conversations with people I contacted MCCS and explained what we have done as well as our need for a driver stand.

I specifically asked for a set of bleachers from 8 Jan -11 Jan, with the option to keep them longer if possible.

I also asked them about any other stands they may be aware of that we may be able sign out or have Camp Services sign out for an extended period of time....

TODAY....

After a few phone calls and various e-mails, it was established that for the stand for the event we would have to pay $260.00 for delivery, set up and pick up...

and, we should persue purchsing some through GSA, etc... so... bottom line...MCCS comes through again

I will re engage tomorrow and take it higher, just wanted to let you know where we were at...

Well Robert, I see the offer from MCCS, and raise you with this - I do have a bit of good news regarding the drivers' stand...

I personally went to Camp Kinser today to see what they ACTUALLY have.

Talked to my contact and guess who happened to be overhearing our conversation - the Chief of Logistic Branch. He was excited for us after I told him what we were trying to accomplish, and took me to the yard and gave me a FULL tour.

They *just* got about twenty 10ft ISO's that are identical. They are the
same height as the original one we secured, but are half as long (at 10 feet
each) and only about 4 feet wide. The original ISO we had was 20 x 5 (or 20
x 6, I can't remember).

Here's my proposal...

We get four of the 10 footers. We put them up against each other to make a
20 x 8 foot platform. This actually works WAY better than the original idea
for the following reasons:

1) The roof on the 20 foot ISO is not structurally sound. Only the "cage"
around it is made out of steel. If you stand on the center of the roof it
will not hold the load of all the drivers standing on it, even with plywood
on top. If we use four 10 footers, we have a "rib" of steel running through
the middle, like a cross. It's WAY better and will hold the weight of all
the drivers standing on it no problem. See picture. The shaded areas are the reinforced steel.

2) Logistically, the four smaller ISO's are way easier to transport to Camp
Courtney, because they don't require a tractor-trailer.

3) When they are on site, they will be easier to maneuver, because you only
need a small forklift.

4) In the end, each track will have their own 20 x 4 foot platform to stand
on (it will be butted up to make a 20 x 8 platform total). The original ISO
wasn't as wide as these butted up together, so there is more room for
"safety", as in, not as crowded on the stand, etc.

Robert, they have these IN STOCK at Kinser, like 20 of them. If this is
something we want, we need to act on it before they disappear, so please try
and work with your leadership to see about getting on-site approval.

The good thing about these is that they are small by themselves, and don't
pose such a "permanent" problem to your leadership if they decide to approve
their use on-site but change their minds later...because you can move them with assets you already have on base.

Let me know, and I'll start working the transportation piece.
