RC Tracks in Chaleston SC Area?

Hello all,
I will be relocating to the Charleston SC area in 2009. Just tying to get some info on any tracks in the area. Doesn't matter on or off road. Just trying to get the feel for the racing scene there.
Links would be helpful too.
Thanks
Fred

Look up "New track in Moncks Corner, SC" on Trinity Tech Talk. Not sure if they have a thread on here or not. Raced with them for a few years while I was there, great people. As far as I know, there are a few other tracks anywhere from 1.5-3 hrs away. Myrtle Beach, Aiken and Sumter are some other cities that have dirt tracks, on-road died out there, the closest one is Greensboro which was about 3 hrs if i remember right. Never know, 2009 is a ways from now, race scene might blow up out there. I left in March of 2007, so they may have somethn else going on too, but I highly doubt it, that place doesn't change much and if it does it takes a looooonngggg time.

After a little research I found this site for the Moncks Corner track:

http://www.freewebs.com/monkscornerraceway/

There's a great site for all of the tracks in the Carolinas:

http://www.carolinasrc.com/forum/

Theres a list of track in the Carolina are at the bottom, they each have there own forum. The second closest track would probably be The Proving Grounds in Sumter SC. That a little under 2 hours from Charleston. Off Road track. Everything else is over 2 hours including a track in Myrtle Beach. Lot's of off road down there, lots of 1/8th buggy. If you feel like driving between 2 and 3 hours to race there's 5 or 6 tracks or so for you to check out. Good luck, and have fun at the track!

Yes I did find both of thoes. I was kinda hoping to find a 1/10 off-road track.
Oh well, looks like I'll have to find a big lot and build my own track!:sneaky:

Fred- The only thing you're gonna find in the SC area is nitro off road. Lots of tracks within a 3 hour radius. Charleston used to have a strong electric oval scene years and years ago, with some sporadic TC racing.

You might want to check into the activity at SCORE in Savannah, GA, (outdoor off road track) which is a pretty easy 2 hour drive from Charleston. I used to make that trip solot all the time for one day club races when I lived there...

I hear that. I am no fan of 1/8th offraod, but down here that's most of the racing. I got lucky, I found a place close to me that runs 1/10th, and an indoor offraod track for 1/10th. I'm really looking for someplace to run TC myself, but that's not an easy find either. If you live in the carolinas it looks like a 1/8th buggy is the way to get a race.

Here in Columbia at the Hobbytown USA store there is parking lot racing that happens @ 2 pm every Sunday. If there are at least 3 vehicles they will run a class. We usually have Monster Truck, 1/10 scale nitro TC and 1/10 scale TC electric, 1/10 scale truck and a novice class for what ever a newbie has. There are usually 25 to 30 people each Sunday racing. The track is setup as a road course with a nice back stretch. 5 bucks to race.

Only 2 hours from Charleston for a nice Sunday drive.

Hey Fred, you run 4wd onroad and offroad?

Fred Perkins 07-20-2008 05:30 AM
