Default 2WD Buggy at Porter?

I've been wanting to race at GCR in Porter for a while now. Since I live in Tyler, I was planning on making a weekend trip out of it; drive down, race, spend the rest of the time with friends.

My favorite class is 2WD buggy. I could run either stock or mod. When I called GCR and asked about that class, the guy on the phone seemed... lethargic. I did find out that they typically race on Friday nights at 7 PM. But that 1/8th scale and 4WD SCT are the biggest classes.

So I'd like to find out from some real locals, what is the 2WD buggy scene like down there? Will there be any particular time this summer when I should come down to race, when there will be a good turnout for that class?

It's kind of hit or miss w/ 2wd. There's a good crowd of 2wd racers, but getting everyone out is key. The track is generally suited for 1/8 scale, so it can be pretty unforgiving to 1/10 scale. But as we speak, they're changing the track, which includes removing some of the bigger obstacles. The best place to post questions for Mike's Friday night racing is here: http://2coolfishing.com/ttmbforum/forumdisplay.php?f=25 . I'm always down for a little mod 2wd buggy/truck action.

Thanks for the reply and link. Sounds like I should bring out the SC10 4x4 and keep the B4.1 ready just in case. If nothing else, it'll be fun to just drive on a different track.
