Default UTRL Series 2021

Greetings racers,
The 2021 Urban Turf Racing League 2021 season began first day of Fall (Sep 20th, 2020) and runs through Memorial Day, end of May 2021. This change allows for a full daytime back yard racing schedule, while at the same time escaping the hot humid summer in Houston.

Series one consisted of 4 separate timed events for four trucks, qualifiers Q1-Q4. Two trucks, Q5 and Q6, are held in race reserve. An adjusted format was also introduced by national for this season. Each event will consist of a total of 59-laps on the 1/10 scale 1/4 mile grass oval. 20U+15U+10U for 45-laps of untimed practice and prep for the 4-lap timed Trophy Dash and 10-lap feature race. Points and places are awarded for both the dash and the feature separately and totaled, along with qualifying points for a series total.

Drama marked the rounds of Series 1 from the get-go. Top qualifier and first truck out for the season suffered a dis-qualification and loss of all event points and placing. The 21.5 TRX was found to have F-N-R enabled in violation of the published rule of Fwd-Brake only. The newly bodied #106 truck did, however, retain its 6 TQ points. Next drama queen was the #1 RC10GTe two-time national and defending champion ST. It suffered a power unit failure and DNS. That brought up the #72 truck out of Q5 and race reserve in what would be a stroke of good fortune for the "tough luck" truck.

After all the grass settled and the four rounds came to completion, the #4 RC10T3 and the #72 RC10T4 were tied at P1 with 18 points each. Series Two begins next month with a Las Vegas qualifier on the 2nd of November. Cheers and thanks for looking in. 'AC'

Default Full Practice for Record

New in this seasons rules package is the 'Full Practice for Record', or FPR. This allows any truck the once per season option of a special practice for record. A full race program must be run and announced to RD and T&S in advance. The final 10-lap heat is officially timed for record. Time established is eligible for end of year Fast Time award. Completing a FPR is also worth one point added to the season total.

Downside to the FPR is it is allowed only once per season. And the truck can make no chassis adjustments or changes to set-up for next event.

The racing #2 truck placed Q6 in qualifying for the October event and missed the Q1-Q4 final field. It elected to go for a FPR. Truck was laying down a blistering record setting pace when it spun into the front straight pipe at the begging of its last lap. By the time self-marshalling was accomplished, all the good effort was for naught and the 2 Truck's time slipped dismally. It did however validate the concept of the FPR and added one valuable point to its season total.
