GT8 - Onroad in DFW?
I just got done converting a 1/8 buggy for onroad use and wanted to see if anyone ran these up here in the DFW area?
I've heard a few guys talk about running them but nothing about racing. Would there be any interest in trying to get everyone together?

Proposed rules:
1. 3s or 4s lipos
2. Open motor (brushless, sensored or sensorless)
3. 8 min Quals, 10 min mains (this is still up in the air but should be doable with a 5000mah pack)
4. Treaded or slick rubber tire (no foams)
5. Any body as long as it's not a lola, wedge, open cockpit
6. Any 1/8 buggy based shaft drive platform. No beltdrive cars.
7. Min weight TBD (something around 3600+ grams race weight?)

A couple guys come up here on Sundays, pretty much on the reg. I'll set my Mugen up for on road...

It's dusty. Always gonna be dusty... but there isn't anything on it that a broom or a water hose can't get get rid of.
I would hardly be the one to make any recommendations on motor or gearing. I just put some Ofna GTP tires on my truck(which is all 10th scale) and crank the droop down. I doubt It's competitive, but I have a good time with it.
We are getting new pipe for the off-road, so we can probably use the old yellow pipe to line the on road. You just barley tap that metal railing and you are gonna have issues... speaking from exp... ha.
Also, they have been running some go karts on it lately, getting a little rubber down, so that should help with grip.

We are running a big GT8 on road race at the big onroad track in Rendon, TX - I think it is RCRNT - the race is called the TEXAS BIGGIE - 35+years.
There is a bunch of us running in multiple classes.....come out and check it out and join the fun!!!!

If you don't take it too seriously, and maybe even have some fun drifting around, it's a good time.
Will be a lot more fun to charge on once we soften up the rails.

GT8 class
Sedan
and sometimes they run a bunch of electric classes there if they get enough guys

Here are a few pics of my recent adventure in Lincoln, NE to attend the Fireball Classic. The pics are thanks to Brad and Jill Smith. It was my first time racing electric GT and I ended up taking home the first place trophy.
With GT cars using rubber tire, we can do GT/rubber tire racing almost anywhere, Joe. If you really want to doe this, all we need is the backing of racers and/or a hobby shop, a parking lot or track, and some rules (which I already have written up). I had a blast racing electric GT and would love to do more of it. But, we need a show of hands as far as participants are concerned before this can be pursued further.
