It's funny how things work out sometimes...
I have been reading and commenting with much joy the discussion on this thread without any consideration of joining in. Last night, I took my 8 year old daughter to an after school meeting for a program called Girls On the Run. She is all about running. She thinks it's fun, but I have never enjoyed it. After throwing my full support behind her participating in this program, I learned that the grand finale is a 5k run at Tyson Park in November....and all girls must be accompanied by an adult! So, tonight my Couch to 5k training begins. There's no worse feeling in the world than disappointing your kid, so I think I have found my motivation. Wish me luck and if it goes well, I might hop on this Tough Mudder bandwagon. If a huge ja vina like Alan can do it, surely I can too!!!!

Whoop whoop. Felt friggin fantastic. I would prolly guess about 3 more outings and I will be able to run it without stopping. Best mood I have been in a while. I haven't felt like kicking an elderly person all day...
Another bit of advice I heard from a fat friend who started running last week. Band-aid the man nips. They tend to get raw from the Baywatch-esque running form....

I know this isn't from the exact event described but....
Triple Amputee Veteran Completes 10.5 Mile Endurance Race
If people like Cpl Todd Love, someone that lost their legs and one of their hands from stepping on a landmine in Afghanistan, can do this in the Spartan Race for raising awareness for wounded warriors then I don't see why we can't do the same for people like him, that lost so much to protect our freedom, in the tough mudder. I say count me in although I'm not sure where I will find the money to participate, or how the crap I'm gonna get in a physical condition where I won't die lol.

Ha, just saw this....
WRONG, I'm just not obese yet. Actually... I'll need a Dr visit to get my asthma under control so I can kick in the cardio. Once the lungs get used to exercise again, they'll be decent but I'll need to keep a puffer handy.
I'm like Limy in that once I commit, I'm all in baby! I still regret skipping a martial arts tournament because I was on crutches w/ a knee injury , it coulda been my own personal karate kid moment LOL.

Sweet! Now we are talking. May of next year should be plenty of time to raise the money. My wife was even talking about getting us some sponsorship's going. The people that absolutely cannot participate could donate money to the cause by sponsoring some of our entry cost.

Ha! I got to participate in a moment such as that except I was on the receiving end. It was not a "full" contact event, but I had asked if kicks to the head were allowed. I was told no and was not looking to defend against it. Viola, me on the ground wondering what happened... I still got 3rd place.
